Jabari is not extremely athletic, he is a long spindly stiff player, he doesn't have TWITCH athleticism, he can be effective but he isn't a superior athlete like Jalen, Amen and Cam are.... DD
He is not stiff on the defensive side of the ball. He gets low and moves his feet extremely well. His defensive worth was proven when he was sitting on the bench and our defense went to sh*t. His handles are not great and it makes him look less athletic than he really is. Watch him on the break and compare him to Tari who is universily regarded as athletic. When he fills out his torso he will be regarded as a monster, especially with his attitude.
Rockets got the game to a single possession and then Jalen choked like 3 shots in a row. Learned away on those jumpers for no reason. Completely lost all his shot fundamentals.
We didn’t run the PnR with Bari tonight, and I don’t know why… specially once Jordan started sagging in paint… sit Alpi and put Bari in and eat them up .. Oh well
There was about a 2 minute sequence were Jalen took and missed 3 wide open catch and shoot 3s. That was pain. All great looks all looked good coming out of his release. Just bricks. Haters are gonna focus on the misses but they were good looks. I did enjoy his aggression and the whistle he received. Even with a poor shooting night he was decently efficient because he was aggressive and got FTs. Hopefully he continues to draw a favorable whistle.
When we got it down to a 3 point deficit, he took 3 mid range jumpers where he either leaning forward and learning to the side. His shot fundamentals went out of the window. I'm not surprised he bricked 2 out of 3 free throws later.
Usually that's a sign of tired legs. Ya you could tell he wasn't balanced on those mid range attempts when Jordan was playing drop coverage. This is just something Jalen has to continue to improve on. I don't think he becomes a true star player without consistently hitting that middie when defenses play drop coverage.
Well he missed the first actually, and missed the 3rd on purpose. They needed 3pts there and he got a phantom call and almost bailed them out but again missed that 1st ft. You could see the pain on his face when it bricked. The 3rd ft was missed to try and get the ball back. But imo, the mid range has got to go. Hes been absolutely piss poor from that pull up middy all year. He seems to do ok on the out of bounds baseline play where he takes the sideline J, but thats it. The ft middy has been awful and any pull up from mid range has been bricks. I would rather see 3 of 15 from 3 instead of 3 of 12 from 3 with 3 mid range pullups.
But the problem is the defense is giving him that shot when they play drop coverage. It's a current barrier of his to become a true star in the league. It's sometime just has to get good at. It might be something he becomes consistent at when he's 25. Maybe an off-season of working on it will make him a threat from there next season. But he has to become competent at it eventually if he ever wants to make any all-nba teams in his career.
How did they get that game down to 6? JG driving to rim and getting fouled … I swear yall don’t watch the game … he then missed 2 middies and got off the ball - selective memory is a mofo
He has no help, teams know he is our only offensive threat. Offseason priority number one is to find a great scorer that can help him stay fresh for the 4th...
He’s never on balance with the middy at FT line cause he’s too worried about it getting blocked from behind so he leans forward and backrims it….he needs to trust he’s open and knock it down …or develop a floater like JA
Also I feel more confident in Jalen making those turn around fadeaways in the middie area more than when he does those running at the rim leaning forward open middie shots. He seems to always clanks the back of the rim on those shots.
