What's funny is the ONLY way a player could have the horrific efficiency Jalen has at his volume and actually be good would be if they were incredible at other stuff. Wemby can have trash efficiency but still have a huge impact because he's a monster on defense who shuts off the rim. Short of that, it's virtually impossible for Jalen (or anyone) to be all that good if they have horrible efficiency. If Jokic TS% dropped by 15% what would he be? Even as one of the all time great passers/decision makers/hoops IQ player the sport has ever seen.
The national guys are finally having to deal with the cancer Rockets fans have had to deal with for years now.
It's a nice video, my English is not good but even I understood the main idea, green is not making progress in his shot selection, this is the most worrying thing for him,him efficiency does not increase when this is the case
I really like Vecenie and I understand what the data says. That being said, I still think that the extension will somehow manifest decent value, and I still think that he is a valuable component to what we are doing.
on Jalen's offense -- Ime not worried/concerned [so should we] -- Ime likes JG's improvement on defense and playmaking [which I think is mostly his focus] let the other young studs have the chance to prove themselves if they can carry the team even for a short span of games and have Jalen just focus on his training -- defense and playmaking -- then JG takes over after AS break 'til the play-offs
Your confusing the blame tho was my point. Thats the shot UDOKA wants him to take, not neccasarily what Jalen wants to do. Yes, it is a flawed concept to have a 33% shooter pull up 5 times a game but it is what it is; as that is our system. If Jalen isnt doing it, Fred is doing it instead at the same bad efficiency this year.
not thats not anyone's system no basketball person in their right mind whether coach, player, or exec thinks the best shot is a 33% 3pt shooter pulling up as many threes in the wins jalen is averaging just 7.2 3PAs a game in the losses its 9.2
I know we're all riding high now because we're winning but his garbage play will become more glaring down the line when we play better teams and the rest of the team isn't able to compensate like they have been. "Don't ignore in victory what you would not ignore in defeat".
I always panic when I see Jalen make his first few threes because odds are that he starts hoisting them up like he is Steph Curry and ends up shooting 25% for the rest of the night.
I still contend that Jalen might be more consistent with a team that played primarily 5 out.....but in a structured environment - built on solid basketball principals and defense this is whom he is, a decent to good player with occasional hot flashes. If you replaced him with a better 3pt shooter the team would be even better, he is probably the most replaceable player on the entire team. DD
I liked the effort tonight - he showed up when he was supposed to, and was hustling on defense. He feels inconsistent because he's not a player in control of his abilities. Shot goes in he looks good, doesn't go in he looks very meh. As annoying as his stans get, at some point there's no point in yelling "why aren't you better??" over and over at a guy - as long as he puts in his best effort in every night we have to accept that's who he is. Now that Tari is this good now, and Amen being Amen, like others have said he is very, very replaceable - this team would look a lot better with even just one consistent, reliable shooter.
