Red = Bad shooting nights Green = Good shooting nights What I see is a lot more red than green. Sure, since the 24th of January, he has had some good nights. But an 8 game stretch doesn't prove a thing unless he can sustain it.
That's the problem. A few good games vs consistently putting up good percentages. I want to see consistency. I want to believe, but until he can consistently up his percentages I will remain skeptical. I'm not jumping up and down thinking he's great for a few sporadic spurts of good shooting. Show me consistent improvement with percentages. I liked that he found ways to score last night without chunking a bunch of 3's, but we need a good 3 PT shooter as a SG. He also needs to improve on his assist/turnover ratio. 1 assist to 4 turnovers wasn't good. Then I look at how he's done the last 10 games and he's shooting 46.2% FG and 28 2% from behind the arc. This is year 3. That 3PT percentage is my biggest problem with the guy you want as your starting SG. That, and his assist/turnover ratio. He's so far behind the pack in ranking among shooting guards in those parts of his game..
To be fair, he had two games when he was 7-16 overall. Which isn't actually "bad", even though in the Christmas color scheme those games show as red. I won't go into the 3 point shooting because even in some "good" games that part is sometimes off.
I'd say he's had a few of his best defensive games in the last 10. Otherwise pretty similar to the previous 10. Which is to say: the best of his career, but still not a good defender.
