Yes, this seems to be after 7-8 games and only looks at points scored. I am trying to set the filter to show what you are seeing and post the source link. OK, got it - positive +/-, too. https://www.nba.com/stats/players/clutch-traditional?PerMode=Totals&dir=A&sort=PTS Edit: What's interesting to me about this is that Udoka does not seem to trust Alpi in the clutch - when you look at the minute distribution. Alpi played only 13 minutes in the clutch, much less than everyone else. This mistrust seems to be misguided - Alpi has the best +/- of all Rockets in the clutch.
I think the disparity in games played is that only games where clutch minutes are scored count, i.e. the final five minutes of the fourth when the game is within 5. So, for instance, there were no clutch points logged last night because the score was never within five in the fourth.
Got it, thanks. It's somewhat disheartening to see Udoka's lack of trust in Alpi in the clutch this season. Other than Tari in very limited minutes last season (as he was injured), Alpi was our best player by far in the clutch last season.
We now have a bigger margin of error. The Tari-Amen duo can erase a lot of bad games on the defensive side. And hopefully Sengun will be consistently good. So we can tolerate Jalen's bad shooting games. In the regular season, we can still beat the bad teams like we've been doing so far. In the playoffs against good teams, it's not going to cut it.
He turned 26 but not everyone's career spans over 20 years like Vince Carter's and not everyone has a linear trajectory.....in fact a lot have up and downs as well. You can become a journey man in your 8th year. A lot of those old school stars began their first 3 years as bench players but had less mileage. Less injuries. Younger does not mean you win more championships or more accolades. The fact that he had those 4 consistent developmental years is pretty good resume.
I checked on that. He came into the league at age 20-21 from renowned Kentucky. He had 2 years where he only played 40-50 games due to minor injuries throughout .....that he was not eligible for accolades or All Star nominations but the numbers in limited game time were there. Therefore I said not everybody's journey should be evaluated due to young age and more mileage. You never know what happens to your young career and trajectory.
Lol did you watch the game? Only reason his shooting percentage wasn't worse is because he turned it over before he could even shoot. Technically you could say he was 6/21 cuz he just fumbled the ball way over and over again,
Our defense is what keeps us in the game, our shooting has been mostly garbage. Jalen is only allowed to score some meaningful clutch baskets in th 4th is because our defense always scraps to keep the score close. If Jalen was on the Wizards he's essentially Poole/Kuzma. Which is what we saw under Silas, just inefficient scoring and no wins. A streaky scorer has their uses in this league, Poole under Kerr's system with HOF players won them a chip, but we don't really have that kinda offensive system. Our defense does give more leeway for Green, and also FVV to shoot like shet, but it's not pretty
You do realize the inherent inconsistency in your conclusions, right? We have a top 5 defense. Green is part of that defense. Poole and Kuzma are bad defensive players who bring defenses down. Come on now, think hard.
The big difference is when Sengun is bad he's still better than most players. He put up 25/18/5/4 in the first game just missed a bunch of easy shots and people think he played bad. He was the league leader in rebounding after first few games and he didn't even get minutes like everyone else. on the flip side when Jalen is bad you could argue he's the worse player in the NBA....
Green has been very good on D. Rebounding seems better and the passing kind of remains the same. He is drifting on jump shots. At the beginning of the year, this wasn’t a problem. He really needs to find a way to be more disciplined in his form. He seems to Have improved a lot over the last year in finishing at the rim. I do think that he will improve on his jumper over the next season or so. I think until then we are just going to wear. It is hot and periods where it is cold.
Anyone who thinks Green has been a “terrible” defender this season is basing that conclusion on reputation as opposed to reality. Then again, you still stubbornly claim that Brooks has been bad, so you obviously allow your mind to impact your vision.
I don't think i've seen anyone say green has been bad defensively, i think most people recognize he's been very solid. Who said he's been bad?
