Wood's mentality was that he sets screens so he can roll off them or pop off them so he gets the ball back. He never set screens for his teammates to get freed. Adams is setting screens for the sole purpose of freeing up his teammates. A true team player. Also obviously the massive strength advantage helps.
With all this talent, up and down the roster, and none of them being like.....THE GUY - it will be hard to pay any of them Max money - because there is someone on the bench just as good. Tough job for Stone...he has to navigate this. DD
I pretty sure Sengun gets an extension before the October deadline, maybe even Green. I think Green would be a mistake until he proves it in the regular season. Sengun has already proven it.
Another Pre-Season game like this and shut him down until regular season. Zero chance Green gets an extension. He's basically admitted so himself. If he plays most games like he did last night he will get a max offer here or somewhere else at the end of the season however. Him and Cam were on pace for 30 and 25 or something ridiculous. And so the Jalen Green pendulum swings. Onto crossing our fingers again tomorrow.
Glad green played well Would be great to have him not be one of the worst players in the NBA for the first half of the season
I think we have to limit how many minutes we play Green. Let’s keep his legs fresh throughout the season. so his jump shot percentage remains good. I see a lot of improvement on how his mechanics look. We have plenty of talent to rotate in and out. I say around 30-32 mins max per game.
The best was seeing one of the king Jaters trying to suggest that Green played well because Amen was on the court. Gotta love the ridiculous ways they'll try and discredit him to soothe their own wounded egos.
It's hilarious how completely opposite this is to the narrative his haters try and spin. Must be so embarrassing for them in all honesty.
I noticed this as well. Wondering if we will see drastically less middies this year. Remember last off-season he spent all his time working with Durant and Booker... maybe that wasn't for the best. Conventional thinking was that he needed to take more of the mid-range to keep defenses honest but in reality he just needed to make 3's at a higher clip to open up the drives. His PnR with Adams is going to be so fun to watch.
Finishing near the rim is also a portion of his game that needed 'cleaning up' .. Im hoping his free throw jumper gets a little better because he can have that shot whenever he wants it. I have to assume as a shooter knowing your big guy is going to wipe out the defender and give you open looks is comforting hopefully it pans out over the course of the year.
That lineup of FVV / Green / Thompson / Smith / Adams looked awfully good. It's basically the starters with Adams in place of Sengun. I wonder if we'll be seeing games start off with Green and Sengun together, and then big chunks of games be split into Green-centric lineups and Sengun-centric lineups. Van Gundy used to try that with TMac and Yao, though the results were mixed.
Great article. Not just from a standpoint of understanding the work that Jalen has been putting in, but also reaffirming that what happened in March wasn't just some fluke shooting or him just going on an extended hot streak. It was the result of consistent work being put in that culminated in him being able to add improved offensive output on top of some of the other areas in which he was improving.
"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.” – Calvin Coolidge
