Notice how they always use that "long term" ****? They never say that he will be better than Edwards in a few years. They are not confident in his abilities. Even the most delusional Jalen fan deep down knows that he's lacking A LOT to even be 70% of Edwards currently is rn let alone surpassing him but too scared to say that out loud. They are holding onto the incredibly small chance of him one day being a top 5 player. People would rather die than admit they were wrong. Weak ass species.
They know they need to hedge against him being awful yet again this year while trying to make the case for him in the long run. They've been burned too many times already predicting breakout seasons that never happen.... but they want the Rockets to extend their boyfriend anyway.
People flabbergasted at the thought of Green ever being better than Ant don't understand how NBA narratives change in a heartbeat. Just after one month of all NBA play by Green, national media coverage was already posing that question of Green and Ant. People are so dead set in these narratives. For example there is this assumption that Sengun has separated himself from Green by a wide margin. People with her belief need to understand how that narrative can change quickly in a couple of months of disappointing play from one and exceeding expectations for another. The careers for these guys are too young. That's why the push back to the chance of Green ever being at the level of Ant or better is argued with platitudes of Green not having "it" compared to Ant.
I for one cant wait till February if for no other reason than the debate to what Jalen Green might be could be decided by then.
Hell yeah. I wish it wasn’t such a long wait till the avalanche of “how could I have known it was a step and not a streak??” Jalen’s inconsistency in this chart (compared to Booker) is perfectly correlated to the team’s turbulent tanking and radical culture change. I’ve always said, you couldn’t WRITE a more obvious late bloomer story than Jalen’s. The answer is screaming at us.
If you compare Booker and Green's third year you'd at face value assume Booker made a leap and Green regressed but then you actually look at their impact and team record and realize that if the Silas regime stayed and the Rockets didn't bring in guys like FVV, Green could have easily went from 22 ppg to 24 ppg on Booker's efficiency in his third year but the Rockets would have wins in the mid 20s most likely and Booker's team in his third season won 22 games.
