Anthony Edwards - it's not even close. If they can get rid of KAT, then he would be able to shine even more

Because the consensus is that Scoot would go #1 in most draft classes, including Green's. I would put Green above Giddey and Williams but having him behind Scoot doesn't seem crazy to me.

Also is Giddey even a guard? I thought he was generally considered a forward.

doesn't matter. If you were building a team right now who would you take, Anthony Edwards or Jalen Green?

I'd take Ant. Unless you have stats that show why you would take Green.

agreed. if they can put in Scoot for potential reasons, why not Green next to him

Right now it is Def Ant.

But tbh Green can be just as good or even better because apparently Ant is 6'3 whereas according to rumors Jalen Green is now 6'6 with shoes. And yes height isn't everything but it also happens Green is an athletic freak and also displayed pretty good shooting touch in GLeague and developing playmaking in the NBA.

He just needs to care about defense and I think Jalen gonna be really good.

Training staff saying they are surprised how he is conditioning himself and his fitness level even during the time of the off-season most NBA players are in vacation still.

This is important because I think the key for high usage offensive players to be good two way guys is elite cardio conditioning. All time great two way players consistently had this trait. After 3 quarters, everyone huffing and puffing and guys like MJ and Kobe still have that last bit of stamina left to do some crazy chase down blocks or go in deep one on one lock down mode after playing 38 minutes and carrying the offense deep in the fourth quarter during clutch time.

I think mindset also plays a part like if you look at Harden he Def didn't care about defense at the start but became an average defender near the end of his Rockets tenure. Maybe because we were tanking defense wasn't given a big priority before but it should be a big focus now esp since we got some inefficient scorers on our team (FVV, Brooks).

They are different players. You can tell ANT played football and likes overpowering dudes.

Green can be as good, albeit in a different way, but he needs to show it. The league is rightfully dubious about Green putting up numbers on a historically bad team that was tanking very hard.

Ant is Tony Gonzalez and Green is Randy Moss.

They are on remarkably similar tracks. Anyone who has the edge on Green's athleticism is truly special and Edwards is indeed a marvel. He's been a bit more consistent shooting and has the extra year of experience. For the moment Edwards is winning this comparison but seeing the progression and being able to suggest Jalen steps up in year 3 is really exciting. If Green follows suit and ends the year with 24/5/4 type numbers with good shooting percentages? Only one complaining about that will be Robert.

Edwards is a bit overrated to me. He has NBA build, strength, explosive vert, alpha lead dog characteristics. But recent best 2 guards have made him look less talented in comparison.

D Wade & Harden are better passer playmakers. Edwards has defensive tools, still Wade had more stocks - steals + blocks. Edwards can penetrate downhill and get to rim, but not at special Harden level.

I suppose cuz he just turned 22, its saying he will make a Jayson Tatum type leap. He'll need more efficiency and defense to do that. Basically if Edwards is the new 2 guard standard, even if its a regression, thats actually good for Jalen lol

He's actually a PG but he happens to play with SGA who does not love to share those duties.

The question the OP posed is "...who will be the better combo/sg when all is said and done". I see quite a few people responding to who is better now.

    I voted Jalen:

    1. Because I bleed Rockets Red and as long as Jalen is a Rocket my fandom will not allow me to vote for another team's player ;)

    2. Seriously they both have similar skill and athleticism (with Ant being stronger, while Jalen is faster, quicker, and I believe has a bit more bounce) so it will come down to their continued work ethic (which I believe is similar) and the teams they are on (to date have not been similar).

Put Jalen on a better team with the structure many of the young Rockets were asking for and I believe he can be better than Ant. My belief is that Jalen can be a bigger, better shooting Ja, who doesn't need the ball in his hands to impact wins.

It will be couple of decades before “it is said and done”.

    Expect a marathon.

I hope someone younger and better than Edwards arrives in the next years. The NBA is fluid that way with talents.

The C option of Others is underestimated here.

Really like to see another Wade/Ginobili with enough shooting hybrid in the league.

That's a difficult question because Ant is already a star and by many projected as the next superstar.

On offense it could be a lot closer than a lot of people realize. Ant is the power-player, Jalen the finesse player. Personally I like the game Jalen plays more and also believe, that he could be harder to stop because of his skillset. But right now, Ant is better.

On defense it is a different story. Ant is more than a step above Jalen - and probably will continue to be better on that side of the ball because of his strength.

So overall, Ant is the safe bet. I still like Jalens ceiling a little more, but he still has the chance of busting, while Ant should at the very least continue to be a very productive starter that improves almost any team.
