The next gettable one, because I think the next one would be Cade after 1-2 slow years but he is not attainable. The next 2-3 drafts have interesting guard material.
I'm curious about Jalen's current value. Which players could we trade Jalen for directly? Which teams would be willing to accept Jalen in a trade? I have many questions, but the answer is clear: trade Jalen before he becomes completely untradeable. The bigger question is...is Jalen untradable already except for a bag of chips?
This is a great question. I think teams see his value because he has value. I just think the potential value is as a future 6th man of the year. What I mean is that teams know he can take over a came and create instant points. Just don't build your team around him. Don't pin your postseason hopes on a quick as lightening shooting guard who often forgets how to shoot. That's why it will take picks.
Not trading jalen will be a another mistake. There are other teams will try to upgrade their rosters. We all seen what did happened with trade deadline. KD trade might go low buy due to fact that Sun's can't run the same roster.. but they probably ask more than jalen and Cam..
my concern is that if teams do see him as a 6th man, I can’t imagine any team wanting to pay a 6th man $36 mil per.
Oh definitely be prepared to have to give more assets so that people will take him. He's negative value to his contract, so you're not using him in any trade for anything of value unless you're also sending out one of our best assets. We're either dumping him for crap, paying somebody to take him or packaging him with something of real value to match salary.
I'm thinking recently drafted guys like Jaden Ivey or Scoot Henderson. Not saying the Pistons/Blazers would do that (or that the Rox would want either of them), but guys whose teams are tired of them not realizing their high-pick potential, and they might view Jalen as a better unrealized-potential bet with more upside.
You probably couldn’t trade him for Jordan Poole straight up right now, and that contract was considered a joke for the past few years. There are others like Collin Sexton, Coby White, Austin Reaves, etc. who I think would be better fits here, but you would have to take a bad contract back to match salary or throw in a pick. Or they could hope for a FA signing like Gary Trent Jr., Quentin Grimes, or Ty Jerome and try to move Jalen for rotational depth.
People are overreacting. Jalen still has a lot of trade value IMO. I do think, however, his trade value is highest as the primary piece in a large trade involving other prospects and picks towards a major upgrade.
I don't see how that's an overreach when every single analysis, data point, and eye test points to one fact: Jalen is a negative-impact player. Lineups without Jalen consistently perform better. Given this clear and simple reality, it's hard to believe other teams hold Jalen in high regard. His value is undoubtedly at its lowest right now. We need to cut our losses on the investment we made in Jalen before his value drops even further, which seems likely soon.
Thank God, GSW has absolutely nothing worth trading for. They are history after they get knocked out in the next round.
Geez the man is 23 years old and this is his first playoff game come on give me a break.. These are the same people last year in the preseason after 3 games, were saying Reed Sheppard was a franchise player and we see how many minutes he has played... Give the man some time he is still young and just pump your brakes...
Ant’s not going anywhere. They actually have a shot at winning it all this year. Giving up KAT was stupid, but they have a really good team.
They didn't want to pay KAT but there should be another way to show him that........maybe get a better piece than Randle.
Agree with Barkley somewhat, but shaq has point where hes young and still needs to figure it out. So trading him Now might not be best if he somewhat figures it out in 1-2 years and becomes that star. But can rockets stay pat? or do you make move to someone who can. Me personally you make this evaluation by next year around trade deadline,. but you never know if a good deal comes around near draft time this summer. Nothing on Jalen he is a awesome player, but not a star player yet.
I don’t want to give this guy away and I will never sh*t on him. He has been extremely professional and works his ass off. I don’t even believe in the you have to have a superstar to win in today’s NBA. Things are changing with the Apron rules. Deep teams with multiple good players have a lot more to say about competing. I do believe that Jalen can be a part of a really good starting team with the right balance of players. The Rockets decided to go best player available and try to put the pieces together as they grow. They now have the assets to evolve into a well-balanced team with good to great players at their disposal. I sincerely believe that Ime is the wrong coach for the next iteration of this team and Stone needs to quit kicking the bucket down the road and actually build a team and not be content on acquiring bpa and hoping it magically come together. You can’t out athlete a league full of elite athletes.
The Rockets will never figure out the offensive side of the ball with the current crew. It is not a balanced team and Ime is not a good offensive coach. Unless we luck into Flagg, we need to re-vamp our backcourt sans Amen. Amen, Jabari, Sengun, Tari, Dillon are all keepers. All of other players and picks are available to build out a well balanced deep as sh*t roster. At the very least we need to replace FVV with a shooter and find some bench scoring.
You guys are under estimating his value. We could have any one of those guys listed straight up for Jalen other than maybe Coby White. Teams buy potential all the time and Jalen still has loads. It would be foolish to give him away. I would rather give away Ime and find somebody that can utilize our talent than give away Jalen. Now if we can get Coby or even Reaves for him, I would consider it, not because I think they will be better players long term, but I think they fit our team better.
