I've never been a Jalen hater, despite what some people think. I've just hated his play at times. I've loved what I've seen from him lately, though I do think the Cavs were the only team he's played lately that have a real rim protector. Still, I'm proud of him for this accomplishment. He was phenomenal last night. Wildly efficient. I really hope he's turned the corner, but I'm going to wait to see how he starts off next season before I completely buy into it. He's already fooled me twice with late season heroics.

About where I'm at. I started the season optimistic about him under a new coach and with more help to take some of the pressure off of his creation. Then he just honestly played very poorly on offense most of the season. He was flirting with dipping under 40% on field goals and under 30% from three after the midway point. Was literally one of the worst starters in the league in terms of offensive efficiency. That's when I basically lost faith in the dude.

Now he's got his efficiency numbers back up pretty close to where they were last season and he's started to redeem his season a little bit. I hope he will keep it up. Even still, his production is not the step forward we hoped to see--he'll have to keep up a high standard of play the rest of the way to actually improve his efficiency year-over-year. And after that I want to see him carry it into next season with some kind of consistency. If he manages that maybe I'll start really trusting him as a core player for us again.

I will give him credit for improving on defense and rebounding this season. His effort and intensity are up in those areas. So at least there's been some progress in his play even if his efficiency just ends up about the same.

what's different about this version of "late season heroics" is that he's been playing improved defense, making better decisions, and rebounding at much higher levels than any season previous to this. His shot wasn't falling early in the year and that is just about the only difference from his play.

This is exactly what us "Green stans" were trying to point out when everyone was pilling on him like no tomorrow for the first part of the season.

His shot falling is just really really important to his overall game. He's not Amen Thompson, making a massive impact in all quadrants whether he is making buckets or not. I'm happy Jalen has shown improvement in his effort and decisionmaking, but his starting point in those areas was low. At best he's now replacement-level in those areas. To be a starter, he has to shoot well from the field.

I mean it's very obvious what the difference is with this "hot streak" vs previous seasons.

The difference is it's a complete player doing it with good defense, sound decision making and contributing to consistent winning.

His shot just falling makes himself something more than "just a starter" given the fact how deathly afraid opposing teams are of him when his shot is falling because they realize at that point there is no effective way to stop him besides making sure he ball gets out of his hands.

Jalen Green with a consistent jump shot has extreme levels of gravity.

I agree. If he can consistently make even 36% of his threes he is an all-star. If he does better than that... well, sky's the limit. The flip side is, if he's unable to clear that mark consistently, he may just be a 6th man. But hell, Jamal Crawford won 6MOY three times while always being an inconsistent streaky shooter. So I guess Jalen can still have some real value in the league even if the shot doesn't get there.

Couldn’t have said it any better. Before, when his shots ain’t falling (which is often), he’s a net negative on the court. But now with the improved defense, rebounding and playing making, he has a big impact even when his shots aren’t falling.

I’ve been willing to give him more time because his first 2 years was completely wasted under Silas the ass and alongside KPJ the Headless Honcho. Patience is the key I guess. Not many people have that unfortunately.

I've given him credit for improved defense and rebounding all season. It just didn't matter that much to me when his offense was absolutely abysmal. He was still a net negative. Lately, he's been the best player on the team. I just hope it lasts. He's burned me too many times now for me to really trust it. I certainly want to see him succeed though. It's best for him, it's best for the team and it's best for us fans. I know there is this thing going on where people feel like Sengun fans want to see Jalen fail and vice versa. I want to see them both succeed. I'll be thrilled if Jalen proves to be even better than Sengun, because that means we'll have a hell of a team for a very long time. Especially considering I still believe in the all-star potential of Jabari, Amen, and Cam and maybe even Eason if he can get healthy.

The kid is turning into a man before our eyes. The absence of Sengun (and Cam) has made for a much more wide open offense/faster pace, conducive to Jalen's game. He's had carte blanche with the ball in his hands, and a weaker run of opponents in here....Jalen is growing and thriving, and it's translatiing to wins. He's playing in rhythm What this looks like with AS, I don't know, but JG is finally turning the corner. So excited for him and our Rockets!
