Lets not forget that he has 2 years of Silas unlearning to do. I give him till the end of the year. If no sign of substantial improvement by then, then maybe I call him bust or whatever.
Sounds more like a possible explanation if Silas was really as bad of a coach as a lot of people think he was.
Did we only give Francis 2 and a bit seasons before judging him? We got Steve Francis when he was in his 22 year..........Jalen is only 21. Both were born in February
Not a big/forward? I literally paused for like 30 seconds when I read about Detroit not winning since GWB was president lol. Time flies.
I don't think Francis athletic talents were ever in doubt he just never developed the rest of his game enough to rise up from fringe to perennial all star (and the partying etc was too much - didn't have Harden level morning after powers). Smith's never looked like an elite top 3 level athletic freak like Amen Thompson does at times, he's always looked kinda average IMO. Doesn't mean he's a bust, just that his top end is lower than projected
The more data we get around the other players, and seeing Jalen play I am placing less blame on Stone, I still think he has under performed when it comes to the trades and lack of value we have received for just about everyone we have sent out, but it looks like at least Sengun is working out, if we have one of Amen or Bari work out to be close to all-star level, I think the tanking was worth it. We just didn't get lucky enough to get a Wemby type player, but getting two all-star level players would be good enough. If none of the other guys get to this level, Stone likely needs to be fired. If Jalen can learn to be more efficient and can be a Jamal Crawford or Lou Williams w more athleticism, and we have two other guys that are border line all stars then even better.
xxx JG will insist on leaving the minute the Rockets want to push him to the bench. He's either going to get PAID and be the long term starting SG or he's gone.
