Please make it make sense. KPJ plays like ass, acts like an ass as the lead ball handler in a natural leadership role yet has no effect on other players? Meanwhile KPJ plays like ass, acts like an ass and Silas gets all the blame? Talk about looking for excuses. What kind of protective bubble wrap have you mentally put around KPJ?
When a team has no leader, you have guys trying to fill that void, when they shouldn't KPJ is one of those, Wood is one of those......they aren't leaders though they think they might be and are TRYING to be. In a young team like ours Silas should set the priorities, HE SHOULD be the leader until one emerges that is clear to the players. He doesn't do this, so we have a chemical spill as a team. No one is leading, no one is following, the team is rudderlass. Even Ego doesn't want to lead, he just wants to get his and sit down - it is sad........ironically, the only guy on the team probably somewhat capable of leading has been benched all year......so this is what you get. DD
Kpj is the de facto pg. If he plays like sht he rightfully deserves the flame. Especially with his attitude. Only players that gets more leeway r rookies.
I have no problem criticizing individual players, I have a problem when someone's Favorite player sucks and everyone blames someone else because their player sucked. Last night Green for example was piss poor, and you can see tons of people blaming KPJ.......who IMHO also sucked. DD
The way I see it, the core next year is Sengun, Green and our lotto pick. Everyone else is vying for role player rotation spots. IMO KPJ has not earned a starting spot for next season or a new contract, and that's fine. He's just slightly behind schedule. I'm willing to let him compete for a spot next season. I'm sure it won't be as easy for him to get minutes.
The problem is that we have TOO MANY GUYS at those spots.....if you have KPJ and he is behind anyone like Nix, or JayGup, you have to let him go so they can grow. DD
Jalen didn't have a good game last night, but he has been on fire the entire month. A dud was bound to happen. Pretty weird night in general for the top pick rookies. Barnes and Franz played like **** as well. It's normal to have an off night. Hoping to see him bounce back tonight
We do have a few too many. I'm assuming we ditch Wood and Schroeder since they do not fit here. Gordon could fit in the rotation, but I doubt he wants to stick around. Garuba, KJ, Tate, KPJ, Christopher, Nix. We need 3-4 of these guys to pan out as role players that can play defense and space the floor by the end of next season. They all seem like they could be close except Garuba who hasn't had the opportunity to show much. We have them all on great contracts, so we can secure role players in-house without having to overpay someone in the market. We have to also go out and sign some more suitable veteran role players for minimum or chunks of the MLE. Would love to sign Ingles and one of Beverley/Rubio/Wright. Those would actually be good mentors. What we have in abundance is time. Let them fight it out after a summer of workouts, it's worth the potential improvements we'd see.
Said it b4. Make him a sixth man. He doesn't have the pg vision. We have folks keep trying to make kpj into a harden. Lack of discipline and leadership. Plus stats mean nothing if he has a sht attitude aka wood.
Yeah Barnes was 6-21 but is on a good team that won. Barnes and Mobley get passes for their duds because they are on good teams
Let's not forget something that had a major impact on Green's rookie showing: He plays for the absolute, unquestionably worst team in the league.
He gets them, but not nearly enough. Every game you can count at least 2-3 times KPJ/Tate/Wood not seeing him on run outs in transition and missing the opportunity for easy buckets. Especially Wood. Man, when he starts bringing the ball up, you just know it's a turnover or a stupid shot waiting to happen. That sequence last night with Wood and KPJ was cringe.
