His team defense is horrible, but otherwise he's not bad. What's encouraging is that he usually tries pretty hard. If the effort is there, everything else can be learned, especially with his athleticism.
I do not think there is a requirement of athleticism in playing defense as players such as PJ have little athleticism.
Actually PJ has a lot of athleticism that's why he can guard guys 1-5. It's just that his athleticism is in his quickness and lateral movement that's why it isn't that apparent. Just think man why can PJ guard Harden but Enis Freedom can't? Plus athleticism isn't a requirement but it definitely helps, esp when you get beat having speed and quickness alows you to catch up to the person you are defending.
Mobley will likely win ROY, but Green has made a great deal of recent progress. I hope he fulfills all our expectations.
TBH as much as jalen has improved I don't think he's the best player in this draft as of this year. I'd say technically the best one is between Mobley, Wagner and Cade, and then Barnes and Jalen round out the top 5. Mobley hasn't been that efficient offensively, but defensively he's done everything Cavs wanted and more. He also gets plus point for versatility, the Cavs are running a 3 big man team with Allen, Mobley and Markannen and he somehow made it work. Now Allen is injured and he is playing center and it hasn't been that bad. Cade and Wagner get bonus pts for playing with trash. IIRC Bey is the only good player on the Pistons apart from Cade, and he plays with Killian Hayes as his co-starter. Wagner is in the same boat, and on top of that he has the best TS% in the top 10 and is also a really good defender. Barnes is also playing well but he's in the best situation with S tier coach and a bunch of really good players like Siakam and Van Fleet. Green has been pretty good offensively but defensively he needs more work. It's very encouraging though, the fact that he started out as one of the worst rookies in the draft at season start to top 5 in the latest Kia Rookie ladder just shows how much work ethic he really has. People always get on the coaching staff here but as we can see from Green's play they are doing work behind the scenes: https://www.nba.com/news/kia-rookie-ladder-march-16-2022-edition Long term, I think people are gonna be really happy with Green cuz I don't see any red flags on him as an SG prospect. He has high bball IQ, he isn't selfish, he can jump out of the building and both his mid range and 3 pt shots extremely accurate. The defense is poor but he puts in the effort and that's really the most important part. Athletic and big guards in the NBA turn into good defenders if they really want to.
Ok, I thought you were speaking in Jest, now I am so confused lol. How can you possibly know what a barely 20 year old kid is going to be thinking about 4+ years down the road? I bet his own family does not know if he will prioritize money, there is no way you can know this about some kid. I do know based on his IG stories and his social media presence he does seem to like the spotlight, I think he likes LA based on his IG live while in LA. If he ends up being a pretty big star which you seem to think he is going to be a super star, then I wouldn't even be considered about him prioritizing money because he will be worth the max anyways, the only people we say are prioritizing money are the guys who are offered a max but are not really worth it, so I am unclear on that point. He is either on Kobes level and worth every max penny, or hes not and demands the same type of money. I would be concerned about him wanting to go all Hollywood and get a billboard and modeling contract like Chandler Parsons did. I like Jalen a lot, he is super young so he is probably still figuring out who he is, but I am unsure on what the future holds for him. I will need to look up some of the work ethic stories you mentioned as I have not heard about them, I primarily look to clutchfans for info and have not seen any articles posted about it yet.
I dunno about Rookie of the year but definitely 1st Team all rookie and climbing. The kid is improving every game
He is incredibly lazy and doesn’t care. His basketball IQ is bad as well but it’s mostly pure not giving a **** that has made russ so horrific defensively.
Also, those who are comparing Green with Mobley should be comparing Mobley with (Chet, Jabari or Banchero) because that's what it appears we will end up this draft. There's a world in which we may have had Mobley and Ivey, but we have more options with a F/C this year so I'm glad we got our guard last year
Why is it that we feel the need to blame other players when our favorites do poorly or to look for excuses? They are all Rockets. DD
Well, when KPJ is doing this on the court, it's absolutely fine to question if it has an effect on other players. How can anyone watch this clip, and think that the rookies will thrive in this type of environment. It's just KPJ and Wood playing basketball like it's a pick up game.
Its both. He dumb and he doesnt wanna change. In the past pre Patrick Beverly he had John Wall esque speed and quickness so he can shut down basically anyone he wanted. Now his lateral mobility has been hampered and he also doesnt give a ****, just wants to **** around every game. I dont think he even listens to the play anymore tbh.
False. PJ Tucker is an incredible athlete. Players with his lateral quickness at his size and strength are basically nil. He also has a ridiculous, nearly 7-foot wingspan. Remarkable athleticism, even at his age.
