Jalen Green has natural abilities that can't be taught. He looks effortless once he gets into a rhythm and into his comfort zone. He does need to improve his shot selection and let the game come to him. A tighter handle and increased physical strength can make him dangerous. I liked his defensive effort. He isn't a low IQ player by any means.
He moves with so much confidence and effortlessness. Once he got the ball he already knew where he wanted to go, what he was going to do, etc. So far so good.
I think Green’s confidence from three was the most encouraging thing we saw. Also he flashed some serious handles as well. If he can really refine his pick and roll game, he could honestly be the full offensive package. I would like to see him go to the free-throw line more in the future, but he was getting what he wanted. Very encouraging first game! Now I hop this curves some of the over reaction if/when he has an off night the Summer.
Not going to lie. I wanted Mobley. But after last night I realized why I'm not paid millions of dollars to be a GM. Jalen Green is the real deal. He just looked so much more polished compared to Cunnigham and Mobley and he was hitting some insane shots. I must've watched his highlight real 10 times now. I can't wait to see the Rockets play some more games.
Lol him and house should just box for it Stone should tell him if he can avg 16ppg this season he’ll take the number from house
Mike Schmitz called this man a "Ferrari" on ESPN. "Fast, explosive entertaining, not just the production, but the degree of difficulty." I suggest watching the whole video, but the superlatives begin at the 1:50 mark.
Cade with a slow first step as advertised. Its going to plague him in this league. Good shooter and active on defense. Pretty much what I expected from the top picks. Scottie Barnes was probably the 2nd most impressive guy drafted in the top 5 IMO.
Yeah Green looked as good if not better than advertised. He needs as many minutes at the 2 as Silas can give him. It’s why I’m so adamant that we need to move at least one of our vets before the season starts. Green needs as much time on the court as we can give him. KPJ needs that too. Wall’s not going anywhere, so we need to move Gordon and/or Augustine.
Cade is going to need Luka level skills to be great in the NBA which I highly doubt. I do think he'll still be an important player on a good team some time in his career but a "face of the league" type guy? Nope. Green I think is literally the only guy in this draft that has that potential.
That is too early to say. Basically eliminated the whole field except one. The league does not put on a face.
In most draft classes there are definitely surprises in terms of future all-stars but usually everyone knows beforehand who has the potential to be "the face" of the league and no one really sneaks into that role. Even someone like Luka who is on the rise to that level was projected to be a superstar outside of uniformed dudes like Stephan A Smith. I just don't see anything in Cade that would lead me to believe he can reach perennial top 5 player status. Don't get me wrong. I think he'll still be a really good NBA player playing important roles in a winning team though but just not "the guy".
I see many faces of the league caliber in the next 2 years because IMHO the last 2 draft classes were not that great. I only meant not many athletes got to be the sole face on a magazine because they put many on. Many guys can volume score but let's say he can triple double, then he got a special skill.
I'm happy with Green. I still feel Cade has all star potential, so does Mobley. Suggs can become one too. Jalen Johnson is very talented. He needs to play with maturity, he definitely looks like a potential all star. Kuminga is better than advertised.
If this draft or the next one hits it off then the Wiseman draft class which wasn't a good one will be left in the dust.
How suicidal are Detroit fans after seeing Jalen Green highlights? sorry to be that guy, but it makes me chuckle.
I don't see the Luka or Harden heliocentric offensive hub that he was hyped as. Jayson Tatum or Paul George with better playmaking nor do I see Grant Hill. I do still believe in his all star potential because of his shooting and ability as a secondary playmaker, but his physical limitations and the way he plays gives me D'Angelo Russell vibes. Not a knock on Cade considering that Russell has made an Allstar game and can get you 20 plus points with 6-7 assists per game, but they both aren't very explosive and utilize a crafty dribble to get to the floater and pull up more so than getting all the way to the basket. They are just athletic enough and highly skilled enough to get you solid numbers, but I don't see them being able to consistently dominate games offensively outside of the games where they get stupid hot from behind the 3 point line. If he can become a monster pick and roll player, that will elevate him another notch.
