3 pt percentage at 36% and trending up is the biggest thing. Even today where the Rox got pwned guess what he was 40% from 3. He has emerged as one of our better 3s at high volume and that wasnt on my bingo card this year. The ft% increase has also shown how much he has been working on his game, 83% for the year is very good sign. At only 23 he hasnt even reached his prime, next step for him is to learn how to flop and cry to refs every play so he gets calls. Its ridiculous he drives so much and gets only a couple fta every game. If he can get calls then he will improve his efficiency just like every premier perimeter player. Like the Kings game Jalen has been driving so much but only got fta late in the 3rd? How is that even possible? The other game he literally got a bloody lip and didnt even get a call. Its not even no blood no foul dude was already bleeding still no call.
I wouldn’t say Jalen is hated by fans, there are a few of us that are very vocal with their disdain towards Jalen but I think the general sentiment is leaning positive…at least I hope so
It has gotten a lot better but objectively he was pretty hated in his first 2 years. Sheppard is also pretty hated.
Yeah I don’t get why he doesn’t get fouls called in his favor. He went to the line much more his first 2 years. It’s baffling to me. He does need to learn to make contact and draw fouls like Brunson or Trae Young.i noticed he has a deceleration move or 2 now. Much improved.
It's amazing how optimistic you can be about negativity. Something you seem to be able to be optimistic about. "It's not that bad!" It's also interesting you used the word "us" essentially admitting you have disdain towards Jalen. Not his game, but him. Not criticism, but disdain. And you're fully away you're far from the mean because vocal disdain is very far from leaning positive. Very very far. Very simple: if you have the lowest of the low opinion and you're in the bottom 5% and most people are far away from you, you are simply hating. You are an outlier. It's too far from the average and too rare to be considered reasonable, especially since people like you don't provide any reasoning whatsoever, just sweeping statements. What do you think a hater is? Some caricature stereotype who comes here and says out loud "I HATE JALEN GREEN AND I HAVE NO REASONING!!"? lol That doesn't happen, there is no such thing in the world. Haters always have their own silly internal rationale/story, they always attempt to not show their hatred, they always piss in their own compliments when they have to dish them out. A hater like @MystikArkitect (don't worry, he says he has me on ignore, he'll never see this) will even make believe that most people think what he thinks but they don't say it hahaha That's why I wanted to create this thread and let him realize he is, in fact, the captain of the titanic going down with the ship. By far the most important feature of a hater is they hold on till the bitter end and can't let go of things. There will be a day that ESPN and NBA fans and most Rockets fans will be ok about such and such player, but that person will still be like "just wait and see" quietly in the corner. Waiting for their imaginary "I knew it!!" moment. They can't cheer anymore, they've robbed themselves of that. Once it comes time to fess up, they try to laugh it off or disappear like a real sociopath.

Didn't vote because I'm still in wait and see mode. I'll have an answer when the Rockets are done with the playoffs
Offense is better than ever. Defense has improved, but still sucks most nights. It would be ideal for him to play with 4 switchable players. With Sengun or Adams at center, really need 3 switchable players with him at all times. He's by far the most frustrating Rocket for me which makes me harsher than I should be on this board towards him. While I didn't think the Rockets had much option until a couple months ago, but to play him a lot ( though I think they still overplayed him), I think Amen playing better offensively on ball gives the Rockets more options. I think Green is the 3rd best guard on the team behind FVV and Amen. The Rockets should stagger those 3 to keep 2 of them on the court at most times. I prefer FVV and Amen as starters.
Why do defended defend him like he's the best guard on the team? Can you inform opposing coaching staff that Green is the third best guard in the team to make his life a bit more easier. Only player that is top ten on both these lists other than Green is Steph Curry.
A lot of "hate" has to do with his fans. If you can discuss Reed not shooting well. You can talk about Cam makes dumb decisions. Theres not much animosity for the most part. But anyone who ever point out a deficiency with Jalen gets bombarded with negative feedback. And any time you praise him but only slightly also get bombarded with feedback, because you're not gushing enough. I can only assume players with high variance are prone to this kind of fandom, since KPJ also had a cult level of support before the police incident. Before then, KPJ was quitting in games and people still supported him.
Nope. The problem is the inability of measured criticism towards Green from a subgroup of posters. This is a bad take on your part. Do better in reading the forum.
I am unsure who the best guard on the team is so I don't know if he means FVV or Amen. FVV is the best PG. Amen is the best SG. The Rockets play their best offense relative to Green and Amen with FVV and one of those 2. Rockets offensive rating with FVV, without Green 120.5 (which is amazing) Rockets with Amen without Green. 113.9 With Green no Amen 112.0 With Green no FVV 114.2 I'm not going to bother with defensive stats as those weight too heavily towards Amen and FVV. If Green is not a clear cut way better offensively guard over either FVV or Amen, there really should be no question who the starting 2 guards should be based solely on current ability. You can show any stat you want, but it won't change the following fact. The Rockets play better without Green than with Green based on Net Rating on/off data. Some of this is starting. Some of this is just he's not better than FVV and Amen. Some of this is just the Rockets don't have a rim protector such that he doesn't fit with as many of the bench players.
I'd assume opposing team best defensive line ups mirror Green's playing time more than any other guard on the team. Again, just pointing to on/off as your argument is lazy. And let's be clear this will be the only manner in which you can defend your premise. You won't express an argument that involves actual on court analysis. It's more valid to understand how opposing teams gameplan for Green vs Amen vs Fred. And out of those three they fear Green the most. He's the only one who truly gets face guarded off ball. He's the guy opposing teams try to deny the ball the most. And he also is the guard who attracts the most defensive attention with the ball in his hands also. Why would Ime in the last game without Fred specifically express a desire to stagger Green and Sengun's minutes? Why would Ime specifically state one of those two should be on the court at all times when there is no Fred? Ask yourself why. Just to be clear, Amen not being a better "guard" than Green doesn't mean his value on the team overall isn't at Green's level or higher. He's just not a better guard than Green. Amen can be a worlds better defender and be an anchor on the defensive end. He also is a better play connector than Jalen. But he isn't a better guard than Jalen.
FYI. I am a Rockets fan first. I am wrong a lot on what a player will be. All Green has to do for me to want him in the game a lot is for the Rockets to play well when he's in the game with rotation players for a good sample of games and maintain it. Currently, objective data suggests Green is better than the median player, but not the best guard on the Rockets. I trust stats over fan opinions which (even mine) are biased.
..and the only manner you can defend Green is by ignoring on/off data and accepting only data that supports your position. My opinion changes easily with regards to how the team plays which it did not do with FVV out. The purpose is to win games which greatly favors when FVV plays over when he's out. Ime has said plenty of good things about FVV and Amen.
