These numbers are worthless without context. He’s taking way more 3s this year — 8.7 a game, up from 7.4 last season and 6.8 as a rookie. He’s 3 point shot has obviously improved. Also, it’s way too early to post averages as they will swing wildly — if he is hot from 3 next game, his average will like be around .36 - .37.
I don’t think it matters a great deal. He is hitting 40% on spot up threes. It is the hero ball shots he takes (step backs mostly) that causes his percentages to slip. Jalen and Ime need to continue to work on his court presence and to take what the defense gives him. When he forces he is not good. We need to also get into our sets quickly every time down the court. FVV is the biggest thing holding back Jalen in my opinion. Jalen, Amen, and Sengun should be the 3 to initiate the offense and you will see progression in the Rocket’s half-court offense.
when people say "jaters", they pretty much mean rockets fans. it's jalen fanboys vs rockets fans... let's get that straight. the thing is, we all want jalen to do better and succeed.
This may be the dumbest thing I’ve ever read on this forum. “The posters crapping on the player are the REAL fans.”
Let's see.... Christian Wood KPJ Sengun Stephen Silas Ime And now FVV.... Who is up next to be blamed for Jalen not being a great player? I guess we'll find out next week on the next episode of "It's Jalen's world and we're all just living in it".
And soon after he'll have 5-7 games shooting under 40% and then he'll have a couple of 30 point games on good efficiency and then another batch of sub 40%.....and so on..... Hopefully another high efficiency barrage comes during the League Cup games.
I’m not a Jalen only fan. I was just making the point that he often gets the ball after FVV has dribbled half the shot clock away and forced him to create a shot with everybody packing the paint. The Rockets need to bring the ball up fast and put the ball in the hand of their creators early in the shot clock. It is more of offensive philosophy than blaming another player for Jalen’s shortcomings.
That doesn't matter, if he only makes 33% of them...WTF man - the hoops people go through to apologize for an above average player and a disappointing number 2 pick. DD
If you actually read this thread since it's been bumped up these past few days, you'd know the responses are just people are being snarky towards fans once again taking victory laps over sample size success. Jalen has been on this up and down rollercoaster like this for 3 years now, so there's actually not much to actually say about Jalen beyond that he's still the same guy as always. It's just that his fans always seem to declare victory and stardom after each of his highs and make excuses during his lows. I don't know why people can be so invested in him when there are more exciting players on this team, but maybe I just don't get Jalen-forever backers.
I get a genuine kick out of reading all the Junior GM takes here as well as other ideological positions. It reminds me how bad things can be!
Its pretty ironic that someone who consistently just care about being right about one player call someone else a Junior GM.
