I've been watching the Rockets play all season and seems like whenever it's 4th quarter we barely see Jalen Green get any minutes. What gives?

When the team sucks all game, doesn't play defense and is way behind you don't reward those that sucked with playing time against the bench just to get their numbers up.

If he or Wood, or KPJ want to play in the 4th, play harder in the first and second to keep the game close.

I'm not sure what Silas is trying to do at the moment.

Green is always sharing the floor with KPJ and Wood, two guys that take up far more touches and possessions than any other player on this team, and two guys that set the worse example for our rookies.

Green should have been on the court in the 4th, as a rookie should (even Gordon and Tate was in there), but it almost feels like Silas was worried that Green would not be attached behind Wood and KPJ. Almost feels like some misguided attempt to set a hierarchy of players.

Notice how all the people who go on and on about “accountability” and “not rewarding” Green, talking about how he needed to come off the bench until he “earns” a starting spot, etc had no issue with KPJr being given the starting spot and plenty of minutes from day 1 even tho he hadn’t earned a damn thing? Notice how they had no problem with KPJr getting just a 1 game suspension after losing his mind and running away from the arena at halftime? Accountability right? Almost like they’re full of sh*t

no excuse for rookies like Green or Sengun to not be playing in the 4th quarter of blowouts

He’s a rookie that’s developing, you definitely play him and not “punish” him. He needs to be in line ups without KPJ where he can be the go to—especially in the 4th in blow outs. The reps are important for his growth. We’re rebuilding, what the hell are we doing if we’re not developing our top prospect?

Great bring him off the bench....and let Mathews start so we can have a better defense.

People: “This year is about the young players & player development.”
Same people(& Silas): “Alperen and Jalen need to earn their minutes.”

he being groomed like a true champion... for 3 quarters the job is finished, then he gets a well deserved rest in the 4th when its the garbage time...

Rockets more believe those players waived by other teams or undrafted than their 4 1st round rookies.

I actually think this is a great idea.

KPJ and Wood have poor attitudes, poor defense, set a terrible example for this team, and seem to play for stats. So if the objective is to increase their value, there is no better way.

Let Green come off the bench and play with Christopher and Matthews. At least the ball will move more, and Green will likely get more minutes since garbage time will come before the end of the 3rd quarter with Wood and KPJ leading the charge.

If it were me, I would start:

    Green
    KPJ
    Wood
    Al P
    Tate

And if they didn't give effort you are right, I would bench them - until they gave effort on both ends.

At some point accountability needs to be a thing......

But but but. Mr. DaDakota - we want to see the guys that jump high and can dunk, we don't care that they are a turnstile on defense.....as long as they get in the top ten plays on sportscenter.....hurray!

The entire team needs to get better at defense...the ENTIRE team, but unless the coach will hold them accountable for it.....it won't happen....this as a development year should be about the entire court, not just offense.

Our coach is too passive aggressive - people need to be more direct and lead.

Nah, I think all of them need to earn their spot. I:d much rather play Christopher who plays hard on both ends than either KP or Green, with KP hitting the bench before Green in priority. I really like Green, but he needs to learn how to defend. Not everybody is on one side or the other, we have KJ and JC who also need developing and they play much harder and have less natural talent, give them the minutes if the others don't wanna hustle hard. I actually haven't had issues with Green's effort on D until these last 2 games. It looks like he's learning from KP and Wood more than Gordon and Nwaba.

This makes sense for vets but not a 19 year old rookie imo.

He’s treated as a key starter and when we’re blown out in the 4th we mostly bench the starters.

Not arguing about whether it’s right or wrong, just saying that’s what happened tonight, and it happens often. When the game is close he gets plenty of minutes, kid averages over 30mpg

Are you kidding? It makes even more sense for a 19 year old Rookie.

If they are NOT playing hard, or making the same mistake - you pull them out, you explain what you want to see them do, and you put them back in....if they don't listen, you pull them out again. Wash, rinse, repeat.

It is the only thing that coaches have, playing time - they need to hold them all accountable.....with a vet you have a shorter leash....but everyone needs to be held accountable.

If that’s how you approach developing a top prospect, sure. Matthews isn’t going to solve the gaping hole in the paint but if that allows Green to operate and get reps I don’t care. However, right now Green and KPJ are being treated as though they’re the same. If one sits there 4th so does the other which I don’t agree with.

playing JC and KJ in the 4th isn’t stopping u from playing Green

play Green more with them instead of lazy Wood and whatever the hell it is KPJr is doing out there on the court

this year is about developing skill and talent

even the game against Denver where Green had like 26 points after 3 quarters, he barely played in the 4th because it was a blowout

    For what?
