Hope Green is watching and learning. This team is full of dogs right now, and we are playing winning basketball because of it. If he comes back still playing like a wuss on defense and hustle, he should not get minutes
Hmmm fancy that ... stats that actually represent the root of the problem! Sure, it doesnt fit into the "Jalen Green is a Bust I wish I had Mobley" sentiments around here, but for those who were actually paying attention there was no way that a team compiled of space eaters was going to be able to eat with two lane cloggers in the lineup. All of a sudden guys like Nwaba and Augustin are feasting and the issues were laid at the feet of Scoot and Jalen!! SMH. Some guys around here with their predispositions and "logical" fallacies are cute. When they get shown to be patently wrong - they just turn the cheek! Credit to the Green Gang for staying the course!
I like your thinking, we just have to replace Augustin and Nwaba with younger versions somehow. Some of those old dogs are brought in to play with James Harden and are still here.
Im looking forward to what Scoot and Jalen can bring to the lineup within the new open floor concept. I think they will be able to showcase their unique skills. Defensively they will struggle, but its part of the process. You need to identify your nucleus and allow them to start meshing and building chemistry for the future. Sengun needs to be a part of that group and give all the young guys as much court time as necessary to understand each others strengths and how to play off of one another. edit: and as an old hog myself, I have to tip the cat to Splash Gordon - without him last night we dont come back and win that game. Hope he can find himself on a contender soon enough along with some of the other vets.
Would not be surprised if Mobley turns out to be a defensive LBJ. And Barnes a defensive Bosh. Cade is probably a facilitating Melo.
Cleverly leaves out that the older dogs are much more efficient on both ends..... I am a fan of competition for playing time, when the young pups can beat them out, they should get the starting nod, until then, best player plays. DD
Come on WAY to early for that - Green has had some very good moments and just before injury was playing the best ball of his NBA career.....he will be fine, he is just further away than many of us hoped. But, he will get there. DD
I wonder how many Cavs fans kept screaming about how Darko was "just 18 years old" when other Cavs fans would point out how terrible at basketball he was.
He clearly can score, passing is improving. It's too early to tell. First impression sucks though. He gets blown by easily by other guards due to his built.
But he was just 18..... That excuse works for anyone, and his per 36 numbers were 11/10. Fortunately I'm sure he didn't have that kind of ridiculous blind fanbase, so Cavs fans didn't have to put up with that stupidity for several years.
Green is going to be a SUPERSTAR and Sengun is a STAR but I think we will trade Wood for a young player and FRP and I do not know about Porter yet. I do not know if he can be a STAR player or just a good NBA starter.
While Cade Cunningham has been better of late, he's had a terrible start. It would be shocking if Jalen Green didn't become a star. But could mean he becomes a Mitch Richmond type of player. Sure he'll score 20 every night, but offer you almost nothing else of value. Obviously we are hoping for a lot more than that.
So the worst player on the team is going to certainly be a "SUPERSTAR", but the best player on the team only a "STAR"? LOL Is there a more insane fanbase in all of basketball?
What makes you so sure he can become a star? I would like to feel that too, but so far, he lacks so many fundamental things that are needed, good handle, good shot, good awareness on D and O.....he looks to me more like a scorer off the bench trajectory......which obviously is only like 15 games so not much data. If I had to rank this draft - at this time. 1. Sengun 2. Christopher 3. Green 4. Garuba As to whom looks more NBA ready at this moment. DD
Yeah, but its extremely clear to anyone who isn't an idiot that Jalen Green is not a Darko level bust. We already know that. Maybe you're right and he never ends up being great, I'm sure you'll let us all know by continuing to spam every thread about how bad you think he is, but you don't have to compare him to Darko.
