That is how the NBA works. Every rookie cannot have the same career. Again not socialism. In the long run you want the team to have success, so you favor those who play better. Normal. Just because your favorite rookie did not cut it, he can try tomorrow. As long as it is team intern healthy competition. Most get better via competition.
Pointing out the fact that players currently suck is not "rooting for them to fail", it's just not being delusional fanbois. I legitimately don't believe that anyone would be upset if Jalen Green learned how to play basketball one day.
Some of us have invested a lot of emotional capital (hope) in the #2 pick after the humiliation we endured last year to get it. That's why, if it turns out to be a bust we'll be a lot more pissed than if say Armony Brooks doesn't pan out... I think it's natural
You just are really bad at being coy. See, the issue is even if Green improves and plays better you'll stand firm on your shtick with Green. That's the point people are making. For example, for the past 5 game stretch before he got injured he was scoring efficiently with a 60% ts. That is a substantial improvement. There isn't a single human in existence who can score 60%ts in a 5 game stretch in the NBA that "doesn't know how to play basketball".
Yeah, I don’t get why people on the forum are just dismissing Green’s potential. He was obviously getting better and better. I personally can’t wait to see what he can do with our improved spacing.
That's laughably ridiculous. If he eventually learns how to play basketball, I'll be very happy about it. Right now he's just a freak athlete and streaky shooter... which is why his fanbois have to talk about his fluke "good" moments (where he's still a net negative to the team) while ignoring everything else. He simply cannot get by on his freak athleticism alone at this level so he'll actually have to learn how to play basketball. Hopefully that happens, but it's not a guarantee.... time will tell.
The problem with that is Green was a big part of why the spacing was bad. Turns out when a 27% 3 point shooter goes down and is replaced with a 40% 3 point shooter, it helps everyone.
its because the best he looked all season was in the tunnel video after game where he was the most cheerful rocket handshaking the fans garrison mathews refused to greet
I'm not worried about Green. Him being out is giving other players on this team a chance to shine and get some meaningful minutes. Garry Bird, Armoni Exchange, JayGup, etc.
Let's just be glad that it's turning out that there are lots of rough diamonds in the team even if they're small. Wow!
Never quite got him, he thinks Green is a bust, actively roots for Green to fail, yet thinks this team can make the playoffs and should aim for it? Maybe a member of instant gratificacation theatre, but there is another explanation: Spoiler
this logic is so flawed, it’s hilarious. It assumes the 27% is a result of Green being a poor shooter and not of poor spacing. His 36% from 3 in the G league and 35.7% from 3 with just Wood on the floor suggest otherwise. Do better.
Cannot wait for that to happen. This team needs a star. But until then, we have a bunch of loveable grinders.
Two things can be true. Spacing was bad and has improved. Jalen Green, so far this season, has been missing wide open and open 3 point attempts Green for the season “Wide open” 3 point attempts : 31% “Open” 3 point attempts : 22.2% “Tightly contested” 3 point attempts : 36.8%
