Let the guy heal and then play. Just give time to players who deserve it. 15 to 20 minutes a game should be good enough for now. Let him fight for the right to be in rotation/first 5. Handing everything in a silver plate won't work for anybody. First things first, Green should improve his defense and shooting. He shouldn't handle the ball so much. He's got the talent and body to accomplish more. I know he's a rookie but the sooner he starts playing wise, the better. This is NBA, not the NCAA. Besides, he's a #2 pick. A lot of people are watching him. If he wants to be a franchise player, he must make sure he deserved it. NBA is unforgiving. If you perform mediocre, no one will want you. There are a lot of talented and athletically gifted players who didn't make it just because their court awareness is mediocre. I hope he doesn't turn out to be a bust.
There is a saying better stay silent and look dumb than say something and dispel doubts... fits Jalen for now. Hope he grows. Btw he has injured hammy, he can work out almost everything. Strength training isn't coliding with it
Mediocrity is the best they could hope for without a franchise player. So the choice is long term mediocrity or another tanking season
As many as it takes to draft a franchise player. If you fail to draft quality players, it can take some time. Wasting the 2nd pick in the draft set the franchise back
so you think 20 teams can win it all this year already?! perhaps, but then I dont think you believe so... perhaps i should of asked how many teams you think could win championship this year? because all others would be better off tanking to add that final piece necessary for contention but in that case nba should be suspended forever.... because only 4-5 teams can realistically hope to win it all and its only possible for 2-3 teams max to add significant pieces in one year
I think that something like 15-20 teams have a franchise player or core they plan to build around. Every other team, like the Rockets, have next to nothing to build on and should tank. Now maybe Sengun becomes that guy, but it's not a guarantee that happens.
There's a pretty big group of teams that aren't contenders but also shouldn't tank. Some examples off the top of my head are Dallas, Charlotte, Atlanta, Memphis. You've found young player(s) to build around, and now you're in the development stage. Your young players need to improve, get some experience, learn how to win, learn how to play in the playoffs. These teams should be doing everything they can to add players who fit with the team but aren't too old, make sure they have the right coach, and then just try to win and see how far they go. They aren't contenders but still should be trying to win at all costs.
but come on why just reduce tanking to getting a franchise player? this is pretty subjective just like refusing to tank at all... ...why not tank just for another year more(or 2) to finish the proces and become a real contender.... you can even trade the pick if its a great prospect for an immediate allstar or to get the right role players around the franchise player... oth would you like to be given rings for free? eg by means of the commisioner ordering top 10 teams to surrender their best player to your team? think about it...it would ruin the league i wouldn't want it.... no way...it would spoil it for me it would suck out all the fun, the mystery and excitement out of it.... this is what tanking does for me....i wouldn't want to tank even if it were to work ( and it doesn't)...just like i would'nt want fertita to bribe the refs even if it mean my team not gonna win... i want the real thing not a surrogate I DONT WANT PLASTIC FLOWERS even if you were to place the best fragrance on it... its like ****ing the plastic doll....ITS GROSS EVEN TO IMAGINE
