Nothing passive about it. The idea that our chemistry would be destroyed was clearly wrong. Why don't you just admit it instead of spamming the board with more crazy ideas (like trading DHoward).
Unique example but this immediately came to mind. <iframe width="640" height="390" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/OMASgrnbouY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Smith has been very good off the bench. Brings toughness, energy, and played well for the most part. Don't see him as anything but a net positive so far - a pleasant surprise.
You are passively aggressively baiting - just admit it....it's ok.....and I did say we should sigh him, but I worried that it would kill our chemistry, primarily because he was promised to be the starter - and it did. I am pleasantly surprised that he has agreed to come off the bench and be the backup big - re-establishing said chemistry. I do think he shoots too much, and has little understanding of what he is good at, and what he stinks at, so does DHo - I don't like players that try to do things they are poor at....I prefer smart players who play within themselves. DD
Dmo? Has played great. Not sure why you'd rag on him. Smith has been great for chemistry. He's played everything better than I imagined he would. Yes there are some bad shots but he seems to be trying to play the way he is being asked to.
DMo????? - we are talking about Josh Smith and me saying he would hurt our chemistry - and Mr. Clutch coming in and baiting as he is known for doing....it's cool - he and I value things differently, he is more defense I am more offense. I think the only thing holding Smith from going Smithy is the bench - he got up 15 shots today and 4 of them 3pters..... The best thing we can do is play him when he is going ok, and bench him when he isn't....and when TJones gets completely healthy, Smith may move further down the rotation. DD
Jones has similar handles but he lacks Smith's passing ability and court vision. And Jones D is not even worth comparing.
What? You do know that Terrance was a PG, right? http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/64750/has-houston-found-its-missing-piece DD
I think the most important thing we overlooked and was mentioned on the podcast is the closing mins of game during playoffs We couldnt afford to have jsmoove and howard both in the lineup when the other team is going to hack the heck out of those two. we saw that happen last playoffs where surprisingly Howard turn out to be somewhat not disappointing with FT. Jsmith is better off coming off the bench just for that reason alone. He can contribute in 3 rd and 4 th quarters up til the last 5 mins or so.
In the closing moments you could have TJo and DMo in there though, and Howard and Smooth grabbing some pine.... DD
What a specious argument. If Jones had PG skills, he would still be playing PG - e.g. Lebron, or at least still exhibiting PG guard skills like we are discussing, i.e. deft passing. Hard to take you seriously sometimes. And as others have pointed out, TJ is far from the only big who started out as a guard. Jones is a black hole on offense, rarely does he look to pass when he gets the ball. He is always looking for his own shot. Very different from Josh Smith, who is known for his passing (as well as his poor shot selection). But this is one of the reasons why Jones has a higher offensive upside.
How do you agree exactly? Smith is an excellent defender, Jones blocks a shot a game maybe, and can't do anything else...
I'm not sure why you're saying that like it's a good thing. In fact I wish Smith would stop doing that. It's unnecessary and puts the other guys out of position. That being said, Jones is soft and not even a bit of the defender Smith is when Smith tries. I don't want to see that lazy defense from Josh Smith we have seen a few times already. He's too good on that end to do that.
Pretty sure that's something they work on. He's run the pick and roll as the ball handler and found the corner 3 guy for an open shot several times.
