Overall his impact his been fairly good since he joined us, but when he is inefficient, he ends up hurting us. We need him to be at his best.
It's almost like Jalen is praying that Josh watches this so he'll stop shooting jumpers. He's right though, he's an abysmal shooter and doesn't seem to care. Is there any other Rockets talk in the 70 minutes? Was more of a Detroit festival at Josh Smith's expense, lol. In the end, I am happy with Josh. He cost us nothing, and he's basically our Terrence Jones until TJ returns.
lol, I am continuing to listen....Jalen is giving lessons for getting strippers into your room without making the tabloids.
As long as Smith shoots within the flow of the offense, I rather have Smith than Jones getting minutes. And I think for the most part, that's what Smith has been doing. If he takes a couple of threes or mid range shots a game in the flow of the offense, no complaints here. But the reason why I would be in favor of Smith over Jones is because of the defense he can provide. Jones isn't a good defender, especially against top tier PFs like LMA, ZBo, Griffin, Love and even David Lee. Smith has shown that he is at least an adequate to above average defender at his position. Smith is Jones' best case scenario.
That is bull****. I don't remember seeing anyone call Jones a scrub. However they are basically the same player. Jones is a little bit better shooter. Both handle the ball well, block shots. People keep forgetting that once Jones is back our big man rotation is Howard/Dmo/Smith/Jones. And everyone ignores that were not contenders before Smith so we lose nothing. Worst case scenario Jones gets time to slowly get healthy and Smith is let go at seasons end. I seriously doubt one player in his third season is the key to the team. The key is the team has a whole maturing and staying within the role and showing up.
I'd rather have both Jones and Smith in the playoffs versus just Jones. Deeper rotation and both can be effective creating mismatches. Have the best of both worlds and utilize both
There are alot of thing he said which was right. I do however feel that Houston is doing a better job right now incorporating Smith than Detroit ever did. J SMITH is not a 3. He is a 4. He does not need to be responsible for stretching out the offence and needs to focus on taking in the other teams best big. What I don't understand is the infactuation with T jones. I do feel that he is a good player but he hasn't shown the ability to play defence against guys like LMA, Groffin, Randolph, Duncan... and so on.
There are multiple ways to stretch the floor. Josh Smith and T Jones stretch the floor with ball handling. Ryan Anderson stretches the floor with 3 point shooting. Josh Smith was playing the 3 in Detroit with 2 post up bigs. That is why that situation didn't work. How come people don't understand this? You can't play a guy out of position on the wing with 2 paint cloggers and then complain when he takes jumps shots. How was Josh Smith going to get to the basket with Monroe and Drummond standing there? How many SF are told not to take any jumpers whatsoever? Smh
I like that Josh Smith has some 'nastiness' in him (reference the chasedown blocks he's been doing and the thunderous dunks). He brings needed toughness and intimidation factor to our line-up (aka the Ron Artest role). If we survived the craziness of MWP, we'll survive him (anyway it's McHale's job to rein him in).
