He was doing great here as well. I'm expecting regression, but I'd be very happy if I was a Guardians fan with getting a second division starter or even a 4th OF for a reliever. I've got no issues with Astros trading Straw except for the weak return, and that the Astros didn't even promote Chas to starter ahead of time if they liked him better.

It's not like Chas has got any more real experience. He just got called up earlier. They roughly are the same age and same experience.

Jake's defense isn't near Springer's but his current offense sure is. Let's hope he is just a late bloomer like JD Martinez.

Meyers is a better defensive player than Springer. Give it some time.

Again, I haven't seen much of him and we have a small sample size, so I will remain optimistic. The dude is giving me Alvarez vibes. He just looks like he belongs. Maybe it's the fact that he is much older than other guys that normally get called up.

The adjustment period is going to be interesting to watch…once the league gets more intel on him, how he responds will really speak to how good he can be. This run has been incredible to watch, though, and his ability to go oppo is going to make him a tough out I would think.

You could probably analyze how Meyers is striking out and predict how he will do long term (I’m not good at that kind of stuff). If he is swinging and missing at certain kinds of pitches I’m sure big leaguers will adjust to that and he will strike out a lot. The fact that he doesn’t walk much makes me think it’s that he’s just aggressive, not bad at hitting certain pitches, which is something I think can improve on. But other than strikeouts his profile is really, really good. He is very likely to keep hitting the ball hard and being good at defense and baserunning.

For now I think his median outcome would be something like George Springer’s rookie year, with less walks but slightly better defense, coming in somewhere between 2.5 and 4 fwar each year.

I'll take that for a rookie contract. At least we wouldn't have to worry about centerfield for a while. Spend the big money on pitchers and short stop.

Yep, I haven't played around at fangraphs or anything to see the what and where of his tendencies yet. I have noticed he can get beat inside, but this may just be small sample bias.

This is @Joe Joe work, he should get on it.

Springer, Meyers comparison is fun just cause who would have thought we’d get a resemblance of him so soon. One way Meyers can provide more value is if he is able to steal bases well at the big league level. It really blew my mind how bad at stealing Springer was with his speed.

Way too early to tell much except that he really likes pitches middle middle and doesn't like pitchers' pitches (up and in, in and down, away and down, and away and up).

Jake's faster, but needs first step route instinct in the OF. He needs to work on Pitch recognition to cut down on strikeout rate. But both are doable and he has the tools.
