I have a 3G and used blackrain to open my phone. Worked with no problem at all. Winterboard is on my phone and does not draw any extra battery life from me. There are some apps that need winterbaord to load that draw extra battery juice. I have an app that shows me exactly which apps are currently drawing power so I can monitor them, but I have had no problems.
Yes you can. You will be able to change the background and use free apps you find on the internet (that are compatible with the touch)
i've had all 3 iphones jailbroken at various points of time and Winterboard with its addons WILL definitely drain your battery.
I had my 3g jailbroken for a while but I was noticing some serious sluggish behavior. For instance, if I wanted to make a call I would push the "phone" button and it would take upwards of 5 seconds for the phone to respond to my request. I loved the functionality of the cydia stuff, but I missed having a responsive device. I don't know if that's STILL an issue, but I'd love to jailbreak again if anyone has advice on how to ensure your phone doesn't bog down afterwards.
It really depends on which apps you download. Many of the Cydia apps have resources that run in the background. Here's a good article discussing that which might be helpful.
whoa - is this confirmed? i have a 3GS with AT&T, and i think being able to watch games on it would be worth the jailbreaking. is this for real, though?
yep. i watch rockets for free. only bad thing is that you get blacked out on your local teams so if you live in houston you cant watch the team play. you can only watch the other 29 teams
Not watching Rockets games is fine, I'll always find a way to watch them. But how reliable is the League Pass for the iPhone? Do you get good picture for the other games? Is it sluggish/lagging? Can you see EVERY other game?
I have the cracked version of League Pass as well and it's perfect to watch the game. If you are on 3g the quality is a little less than if you are on wifi. On wifi the quality is awesome. It will look sluggish for a little bit while it is buffering but overall great. That's how i watch the rockets games here in Cali. Every game has the same quality and for any reason if you don't have good enough signal you will still get audio and no video.
Well, after doing about 10 minutes of research, I realized I'm living in the Stone Age with my locked-up iPhone. It's time to set it free. So, what's the best program to use to Jailbreak it?
Check out iclarified.com for all of your jailbreaking needs. Ironically, I was updating my jailbreak from 3.0 to 3.12 when this thread popped up.
is unlocking the same thing as jailbreaking? like all i wanted to do is when i go to india next month, be able to use my iphone there..
That is what I am worried about. I have the 3GS and if I can't reset it, then my warranty for the next 8 months will be void. I remember updating iTunes for my refurbished iPod Nano. Every time I updated the iPod, I got an error message when I turned it on. There was no way to escape the message/reset the iPod. I sent it back 3 times, finally I installed the version older version of iTunes it came with and it worked fine. I am worried this will happen to my phone since it is 3GS.
Could you kinda walk through the basic timeline of how to do that upgrade? I have a jailbroken 3gs on 3.0... Do I restore the phone, then upgrade to 3.1.2, then jailbreak? Thanks.
Mine is unlocked perfectly fine. There's no need because I'm on AT&T, but i do it in case i want to sell my phone later... It's a pretty painless process if you ask me...
