You also can't draft a guy like Keegan Murray, because he's already 21+ years old and thus he must never get better. The youth fetish amongst the NBA everyone can basically go **** off.
You can draft Keegan, but prob not in the top 5. Lets look at Jabari 2 yrs from now and then compare him to present day Keegan.
If Keegan is playing till he is 39-40 that would still be 18 great years. A lot of mileage regardless of his starting age.
He's getting playing time under new coach, but oh what a coach. That could break him eventually. He has been working on his jumper too, and that's what he needed, especially because he's not the point, but it has to remain consistent to back up his abilities on the move. He's going to get play time to improve his confidence, but losing can demoralize your development. Catch 22.
NOW Jabari is already better than present day Keegan Murray Is he though? Would Jabari have been better off with another year or 2 in college? ?
Yes. Check out their stats, its pretty similar. Now consider Jabari is a much better defender and rebounder. Jabari like any other player would be better as a rookie if he stayed in college 2+ yrs before going to the NBA. HOWEVER now that he is drafted if we took NBA 2024 Jabari vs NCAA 2024 Jabari NBA Jabari would wipe the floor with NCAA Jabari. Since he went to the NBA Jabari is getting NBA level training and competition which is much better than any NCAA program.
