    Aye, laddie. You're on the right track. Did we discuss this already? I think we may have.

    OK, so we kinda like this type of actor who always does the same role. Michael Douglas? Is AMERICA just enjoying the fact that John Wayne whips butt no matter where he comes out?

    If someone else thinks DENZEL is the same dude in EVERY movie, please say so, or support moes idea. I think so, but I don't want to have to start a poll... :confused:

    Well i don't agree about Denzel though, but playing the same guy never hurt Clint or Wayne. Still, why don't you look up Denzel's IMDB page and look at all of his movies. There's variety there. I heard he wants to do a comedy btw, but nobody ever asks him to be in any. So maybe it's not his fault the same scripts are sent to him.

    Hero was a great movie (though I figured out the twist pretty quick). I thought it was beautiful and an interesting story.

    Shalin soccer was really different. Thought that was hilarious.

    I looked up IMDB and it said: "Denzel Washington... Pompous guy" about 20 times. :D jk

    No, you're right... the variety is there, but he CAN turn down some roles, can't he? I know comedy is Chris Tucker's thing, but he gets annoying with that voice. Maybe speak normally at least ONE SECOND of any movie? ;)

    Denzel... same guy... always has to be the main i-am-always-right character lead... always... never has been a supporting actor... has he?

    Well, he did win an Oscar for "Best Supporting Actor" for his performance in Glory.

    Does that count as a supporting actor? ;)

    Many people say Denzel is the best black actor of our time but after watching a few Don Cheadle movies (especially Hotel Rwanda)..Denzel can't even hold Cheadle's left nut

    Cheadle was in the second Rush Hour, wasn't he? He spoke Chinese to CHan? Man, six degrees of Don Cheadle...

    What else besides Hotel Ruwanda is a Cheadle movie you recommend?

    EXCUSE ME OH DON CHEADLE'D ONE!! ;)

    I dont know, I just thought that the page might help. Honestly I cant think of many movies where he has carried the film. I think it is difficult to compare Cheadle and Denzel personally. DW has proven time and time again that he is the man. Cheadle has had a few decent performances and one awesome (Hotel Rowanda) performance but to put him in the same class as Denzel is kind of much.

    Crash was good..Cheadle also produced it I heard

    he's MULTIDIMENSIONAL

    he gets alot of secondary or small roles in many movies but he's always good IMO but after Hotel Rwanda he should be getting more and more starring roles

    MB, DW is one-dimensional and would NEVER ever have the timing to do comedy. If there is a comedy where he does great, and I don't mean slapstick comedy, let's bring up this thread. I can't mention Cheadle as Kaiser says below, but I gotta see Hotel Ruwanda.

    A'la Jamie FOXX?? We're not talking Russell Crowe here. Russell is always leading and after Gladiator, he got great roles. Now, Eric Roberts after Runaway Train's nomination... let's talk about that...

    Denzel is nowhere near the best black actor of our time. That honor goes to Mr. Morgan Freeman.

    Other black actors I like better than Denzel:

    Samuel L. Jackson
    Lawrence Fishburne
    James Earl Jones

    But Morgan is king.

    Eddie Murphy is still the King of black actors!! :cool:

    IMO, one to look out for is Naomie Harris, who is a very good black actor (albeit a female one)

    Don Cheadle is way overdue for stardom. He has the goods to be a great leading man. And I'm not just talking about small independent pics like Hotel Rwanda. He could easily have been the main character in War of the Worlds.
