Banchero with the casual 30/10 against good opposition. One. Damn. Photo. Jabari is Eddie Griffin with less athleticism.
Facts. Lots of backcourt dribbles and pick and rolls. Zero Princeton when you have the second-best passing big in basketball. Add in Jock and Adams, and your C position is particularly prepared to run more inverted sets to open up shooters.
If Banchero were here he’d be standing in a corner getting cold hands watching Fred and Şengün play 2 man game just like Jabari
Jabari is invisible out there. Some of that is coaching/gameplan, but he seems to have no problem with taking a major back seat. He looks so timid and low energy. I do believe he has the tools to be a third option on a team and even averaging close to 20 ppg, but right now it looks like he wastes his development.
Rofl I doubt that they knew better but they had the better intuition and instinct. I have no doubt that Orlando prefers playmaking and size over shooting.......that it is why it took them so long to even trade for Kentavious Caldwell P. (I watched Magic podcasts and OKC podcasts last year.) But their love for playmaking saved them from taking Jabari Junior.
I think there are plenty of opportunities to kick out to him but we're not taking full advantage. I need him to just rise straight up and shoot patiently more often. He's thinking way too much. Catch and shoot or just 1-2 dribbles into your jumper. That's the bread and butter. He's a big key to our season. If he can take some of the shooting load off the rest of the team it would help a ton.
He’s a mentally weak player, always has been. That’s why he bricks all those late game clutch free throws. Nothing will change.
He needs to play the Robert horry:Ryan Anderson role. Utilize him like a stretch 4 in the D’Antoni offense. I don’t want to se him in the post anymore. I don’t want to see him miss mid post. He needs to be simplified on offense.
Let’s not disrespect Sir Griffin. Jabari isn’t nowhere the player he was . Not even price rite version
Jabari can still be a high end role player but it's frustrating we just can't draft a superstar from our top picks. Green, Jabari and Amen all have some significant limitations that hold them back from being superstar players in the league.
Yeah we were picking 3rd, but, in general, the idea that Jabari Smith was the top overall prospect (KOC, among other Big Board Boyz pushed this idea) - or even part of a "Big 3" with Holmgren and Banchero - is beyond hysterical in retrospect. He's not a tier below those guys, he's tiers below.
He hit 40% from 3 which is exactly what we need from him. Yes, I’m aware he missed his other shots. Bari needs to be launching 3s and focusing on defense, rebounds, dunks, and put backs. A high end role player is perfect if Sengun, Green, and Amen get close to their ceilings.
He needs more shots, but he also needs to hunt his own shots more and be aggressive. He should be a player which impacts the offensive spacing based on his shooting, yet somehow he's invisible out there.
the issue with Jabari is that he seems content being a 5th option. does he show any desire whatsoever at wanting to do more? does he look angry or upset with the lack of shots? it's one thing to be a 3rd pick who eventually becomes a role player but a 3rd pick who just slides in as a role player to start his career is weak. but then again, what skill does he have to be more than a 5th option? I mean, watch Rui on the Lakers. They essentially have the same roles but Rui is aggressive with his shot, with his moves and goes at his defender. It's almost like Rui believes he's better than his role.
What bothers me the most is that he refuses to play help defense. He saw a teammate get back down deep into the post and he ran out of there to chase a corner player. He's dumb, weak, untalented, and selfish, we got another Christian wood
