I am happy to know Jabari's early season shooting was a slump rather than reverting back to his rookie levels. However, to me it's still disappointing that he's basically limited himself to catch and shoot 3pt specialist. If this is his offense, then he's basically Trevor Ariza. Which is fine but did expect more from a #3 pick and what was able to do at Auburn. I mean this is a pretty anemic offense, yet they aren't running plays to get him jumpshots while FVV/Jalen are putting up bricks at historic levels. Makes you wonder how much of this is his limitations, and how much is this offense.
Pretty sure some of it is Coach's crappy offense. I wish he would get a legitimate offensive coordinator to put better structure to this offense.
I am really hoping this is the case. Cause the alternative is that this team either cannot draft or cannot develop offense. I mean who on offense actually performed above people's expectations coming into the year? All I think of is Dillon Brooks. And maybe Amen, but he's mostly doing what he did at end of last year. Everyone else has either regressed or played at basically last year's level.
I'm there now. When Jabari is shooting 3pters this efficiently, they should runs plays to get him open. I'm not sure if he's as good running off screens as he is simple catch-and-shoot, but we need to find out.
I remember in his rookie year, he used to brick most spot up shots but looked much more comfortable shooting off the dribble. I felt that he's a rhythm shooter and the dribbling helped him get into rhythm.
Yeah he would always take that 1 dribble and allow defender to close but still make the shot - weird now he’s also kind of lost his dribble up 3 which he used to hit a decent clip
this team should definitely stop taking pull ups from behind the arc especially jalen and fvv who are both taking the most pullup threes and only making 29% they have to drastically decrease their attempts https://www.nba.com/stats/players/pullup?TeamID=1610612745&dir=D&sort=PULL_UP_FGA convert those Jalen and FVV pullup 3's into catch and shoot 3's for Jabari and Dillon who are both shooting 40% at decent volume https://www.nba.com/stats/players/catch-shoot?TeamID=1610612745&dir=D&sort=CATCH_SHOOT_FG3_PCT
That will require an offensive workover and/or personnel changes. FVV and Jalen dominate the ball in the half-court and FVV continues to waste time getting into the offense which forces the only two guys in the starting line-up with handles to end up having to take crap shots. We have mulitiple problems in the half-court offense, but scheme and FVV dominating the ball are the most egregious.
If Reed/Amen were running the team instead of the Chuck Brothers, Jabari would get way more shots. Hoping that change comes next year when Reed and Amen are up to speed.
Definitely agree on Amen and he should be starting before the year is out, in my opinion, if for no other reason than to get him ready for next year. The jury is still way out on Reed. Unless we abandon our hopes to be a playoff team, he is not going to get enough opportunities to be even close to ready for next year.
Yeah, in his first two seasons, it seemed like he couldn't get a 3-point shot off without dribbling first. But I think he realized that NBA defenses won't give him the time to find his rhythm. Watch the post below (thanks to zeeshan2) that shows his recent 3-pointers, and every one of them are spot up shots. That's just really impressive, considering how hard it must be to change your game that way.
Trevor Ariza isnt 6'10 and can play PF/C. Jabari already does so many things on defense and rebounding and he is the only reliable 3 pt shooter on this team. Its not his fault his teammates dont pass to him look at his FGA and you'll see why he doesnt do much on offense. Y'all have so much expectation from 3rd pick 21 yr old Jabari but 3rd pick 20 yr old Sheppard gets all the passes in the world. lmao For Jabari double double woth great defense is not enough he is a disappointment. For Sheppard, 3 ppg is amazing we are happy with his development.
Bari with another terrific overall game. 15 points on 9 shots, 9 rebounds. He’s up to .36 from 3 this season with a .575 TS% (better than last season). The last 15 games, his splits have been about 49/45/86. Great stuff all around.
Who was telling me in this thread that they can't see Jabari going from 32% to 38% on the season? We're already at 36% with more than half the season remaining.
