a prime rashard lewis in today's modern nba with the need for floor-spacing bigs would actually be highly coveted on the offensive side. i'd like to think jabari smith has the potential to be a much better defender than rashard lewis... and that would clearly separate the two.
you could argue that players like ray allen and reggie miller would've received even more hype than steph curry given how prolific they were from 3 even with less than half the attempts that curry averages per game.

shooting the 3 ball well has become such a necessary skill, and to be as elite as jabari and have that quick and high of a release, while also showing a nice one-dribble, two-dribble pull up game - offensively he'll fit in almost any system. and for him to be a plus defender at that... it's going to be extremely hard to pass up on him if the rockets were lucky enough to have the opportunity to draft him.

In my book he’s one, Chet is two and three is a toss up between Banchero, Ivey, & Sharpe

I think Jabari will be better so it would be a little disappointing. Still, there are worse careers to have.

Not great and what argument can be made positively?

What NBA player dribbles that low?

Right now Jabari Smith seems like an oversized 3&D wing at 6'10", which ain't bad. You will need to hope that he develops a handle because he isn't like Durant in that regard at all even if they are both tall wings with silky smooth jumpers. By all accounts, he's a hard worker and seems like the type of player who will expand his game. It's just hard to predict what level of handle and playmaking he will get too.

Can anybody tell me a guy who dribbles so little being a true franchise-type guy?

Klay has a much better handle.

he plays with a bunch of ball handlers at Auburn. he doesn't need to handle the ball to put that team in their best position to succeed. They play to what their college team and coach see fits the team as a whole. In Auburn's case, they put him in position to shoot the ball which is what he already excels at

nobody is going to know who a franchise guy is when these guys are like 18-19 years old. it's about what they can already do and what they can still potentially do. that's what sets guys apart to get a chance at the next level

It’s a good question. I think his appeal is a very high floor due to his defense and shooting. He’s very, very unlikely to bust. Nbadraft.net has Rashard Lewis and Bosh as comps. I think that is his floor and ceiling and likely he will land somewhere in between.

Like a lot of prospects it’s about projection. Can he improve his handle, dribble and playmaking?

I’d still always lean towards the guy who can shoot. Players like WB and Simmons show you how flawed and how much of a detriment they can be if they can’t shoot despite all those other skills.

Nothing to do with Jabari, but Auburn losing right now because KD Johnson is ****ing 0-14 in a tournament game lmao.

If Auburn pulls this out, it’s incredible.

Not the greatest game from him offensively, but he was aggressive down the stretch with his team down and got some buckets. Defense was good when he was called upon.

If his team didn’t shoot 16% in the first half this game would’ve been a 10 point Auburn win.

You can take great shooters out of games with scheme. You can take them out of game deciding plays. Imperative that Jabari can develop moves to the basket to unlock his full potential. Not sure if he can.

I was gonna say maybe klay. We do have 2 guards who require lots of dribling and senguin really is best as a shot/layup creator. Might not be a bad thing for fit to have a stud who doesn't require lots of time with ball in his hands.

Yep a 6’10’’ Klay Thompson would be very valuable.

Ideally we would want a do it all small forward star next to Green like LeBron, Durant, Paul George but I don’t think that guy is in this draft. I saw Griffin compared to Jimmy Butler that would be a nice fit.

If possible, I'd love to trade up and get him. He looks like the best prospect in this draft.

Klay has an advanced dribble game if he had handles like Klay we would not be asking this question.

Anyway, do you think Klay is a franchise-type guy?

yeah i certainly do. you don't when a championship then next year break the bulls win record without extremely high level play from several people. I wish somehow the impossible happened (it wont) and the rockets had

    Chet
    Sengun
    Jabari
    Green

    Conquer the nba
