I really would dislike this trade. Even if it was just VanVleet and filler. Even if they gave us a first rounder I just don’t think it would be good.

Nah, players always get a 2nd chance because there will be several teams that have little to lose like the Wizards and other teams that think "I can fix him".

Durant's value is because he's like 37. Ja is 26. A massive difference. He's already a multi time all-star. There are a lot of teams that will be desperate and don't have nothing to lose as they either basically have no future or are spinning in mediocrity.

If he's traded, it'll be for a haul. All it takes is 2-3 teams to drive up the price. There are definitely more than 2-3 star desperate teams in the NBA.

He's ball dominate, not an off-ball player at all, not a good 3 point shooter, bad defender, injury prone, and he's declining athletically.

He's not even a Top 10 point guard in the league.

 

I actually struggle to think of who we would trade for that is star level if they became available. I know I’m probably missing a couple people, but there are players that simply will not become available and there are players that simply don’t fit.

Just can’t imagine Ja on rockets where he gets frustrated for Sengun not setting PnR and double big in his way to the basket. Defense will sag off on him and hunt him on every possession. We’re having hard time covering Reed 15mins per game and at least he draws defenders when he is on the floor.
