ok so i didn't word it perfectly, but i did include "has some gas left", meaning he's not truly at the end of his career, as in about to retire. Point is Morey has never said he's against acquiring some win now talent who's not a long term investment.

What can Earl bring to the Rockets that a Von Wafer can't?

Flip side to this is battier has actually produced even less than his usual sub par offensive performance.

I like JR but I'd rather just get Von back if the Rockets were really going after a JR.

JR is better than Von,but I would go with a cheaper Von instead too.

J.R. Smith has had 2 games were he has scored 10 or more 3's off the bench. I don't know what everybody is smoking but I would trade him for either of them in a heartbeat.

Funny how the same people talking about his "thug", miss Artest.

I dont like JR Smith but I'd trade him for Ariza possibly.

Rockets have a kinda-luxury of giving Von Wafer a look without having to do that

You guys are really down on Ariza... I still think he can be an excellent wing off the ball when we get our superstar...

    JR is an idiot.

something we'd have to consider for either Battier OR Ariza

I'm not positive Denver would be interested

I may be biased because I love Smith (been keeping up with him since high school; St. Benedict's Prep IIRC!), but I would do Ariza for Smith in a heartbeat. I wasn't thrilled about signing him, especially considering the role he played in LA versus the role we (Adelman and Morey) have given him. If we could bring JR off the bench somehow (ultimately assuming we can start a SG we get for T-Mac), it would be great.

On the other hand, Battier for Smith is a no-go for me. The leadership, intelligence, and defensive abilities of Battier far outweigh anything Smith could offer us. Even after taking age into account, I think Battier will end up being more valuable to us than Smith might be in a longer time period.

Heck no, as much as I want Battier gone, after watching JR play while living in Denver, he is even more inconsistent than Ariza. He'll shoot you in and out games. The only reason it isn't happening as often now is (IMO) the presence of Billups.

TO be honest I think Landry, Lowry and Brooks have all been more of a leader then Ariza this year.

Ariza hasn't done much at all to help the team thusfar.

Should he be inducted into the hall of fame as well?
