At his age this is his last chance to get a nice hefty contract with the new inflated market.

He would be a moron to pass up on all that money.

Bingo! (Maybe) He sure isn't hurting. I wish I could say his house is in my neighborhood. ;)

Yeah no... unless Gordon is going in a deal for Paul George and Ryno is likely moved to free up gobs of cap space which I don't see happening.

Keep in mind Gordon if healthy is on a great contract. D'Antoni is likely to only have a 3 guard rotation as well this year. Someone will be making a ton just to 10 - 15 min a game in small lineups. Then in that case it's assuming you moved Ryno to get cap space which leaves a big hole at the needed stretch 4 spot.

Just too many complications issues at this point but like I've said many times, Morey is treating this Summer with a Rubix cube mentality where the next move affects the next one. So we gotta see what happens with PG/Melo/Millsap first and go from there.

Pretty cool to see premier free agents WANT to play in Houston though right? They should certainly take the meeting just out of professionalism and respect.

yeah, I can't blame him for chasing the money...he only made 7 mil this year and hasn't earned an incredible amount of money throughout his career...this could be the only big payday he gets in his career

I think we should focus on more pressing needs...he would be nice to have, but he's not really what we need (2-way wings and a PF upgrade)

Would him having a house already in Texas affect if the whole state income tax thing?

I promise you he is not wanting to go to any of those teams while approaching his mid 30s. I bet he's gonna try to make it work with Houston since he already lives in Austin

I think Redick is the better Ray Allen type player; can run around for days on end and can spot up from anywhere. I think Gordon is the better all around player; not better than Redick in cardio-on-the-court but can beat his defender on an iso and playmake, amongst other things.

Not sure what entices NYK to make that trade. Ryno spreading the floor with Porzingas is a strong look, but does not keep them flexible

They can finally get rid of Melo and trade either if needed for the picks or players they want. Gordon would be a good trade bait for what they want and Ryno fits well

For State Income as an athlete, your taxable income is based on an apportionment of where you earned your income. With that being said it's not a matter of state residency but rather where you play. Therefore if you play for a team based in let's say CA, then approx 50% of your income is taxable in CA

Redick would be a nice add, but may want to save some money to fix up the front court. We could get shooting from Dunleavy or Korver for 65% less of what it will cost to sign Redick.

My guess would be lack of options would be something that could entice them to take the deal. They know he doesn't want to play there anymore, they don't want him there anymore, and he's got almost no trade value.

That said, they might prefer just buying him out to having to be stuck with Ryan Anderson.

I know it is a guard-driven league these days, but even guards occasionally miss shots and somebody has to get those rebounds.

Not interested in JJ unless he comes very cheap ( 5 mil )

We need ATHLETES off the bench and guys that can play 2 ways . I don't want an old , athletically declining shooter ... Even if he is a tremendous one.

I guess it depends on how the rest of our moves fall , but I'm not too high on Reddick.

So for Texas it would be $0. That's approximately 50% of his salary from the team. The remaining 50% Is spreadout among which state he plays in, or "earned" his income.

For endorsements, it's a while different story. Again a matter of where you earn your income, could be dependent on [1] market based rules of who receives the benefit (who sees your advertisement) or [2] reception of benefit (something along the lines of where you signed the contract)

Each state has different method of filing or reporting

Again, approx 50% spread amongst each state he earned his income
