I almost see it as a complement to Battier... he talks about Carolina ballers (stackhouse, wallace, etc.) all the times in his rhymes but the one Duke player he mentions is Battier... meaning he has to respect him.

I know I'm stretching... but i applaud him for loving his state.

The truth is Shane is an inspiration to black men everywhere. He has a stable job, provides for his family, speaks politely to others, went to university and isn't afraid to go out of his comfort zone when he's out on the town. How many brothas do you know that can fill up that checklist?

I don't know if you've heard of the rapper Curtis Jackson, but he talks about the hater mentality prevalent in Jalen (and many black males) in his song "In Da Club".

My flow, my show brought me the dough
That bought me all my fancy things
My crib, my cars, my pools, my jewels
    Look ***** I got K-Mart and I ain't change

And you should love it, way more then you hate it
***** you mad? I thought that you'd be happy I made it
I'm that cat by the bar toasting to the good life
You that f*ggot ass ***** trying to pull me back right?

Jalen wants Grant to struggle. He wants him to come from a broken home, live in the ghetto, grow up playing street ball and not have a sniff at an Ivy league university. He wants him to fit that stereotype because he doesn't have a big enough heart to accept Grant for who he really is. Who do you think Jalen really wants his kids to have the life of growing up: him or Hill? He's bitter.

You see Ronny...Let me school you "young grasshoppa" for a minute... 1st off that 50 cent song wouldnt apply because Jalen has all those things you mentioned (I strongly assume)...

2ndly, He is not an inspiration (again, stupid yes) to people such as myself..Because I cant relate to him.. I grew up in Acres Homes , and I dont recall one brotha wearing a Battier or Duke jersey...It was all Michigan and North Carolina...

3rdly(?), that aint a checklist, thats the American Dream.. and I know a-plenty of black folk that has achieved it.. You cant compare his life to other everyday hard-workin people (any race) because 9 outta 10 people cant go to Duke and get drafted in the NBA...

and lastly, "Makin it" isnt a money thing.. I made it , and Im in the middle class bracket...I provide for my youngins, balance my life accordingly, and I am polite to people I respect (usually everyone)... So I guess your theory is wrong bro or bra or whatever you are!!!!

*Goin to download Craig David's greatest hits now just for the hell of it*

So all you have to do to diss someone is call them lame?
I was hoping for something harsher so we'd have a Battier-J Cole feud.
    That would be hilarious.

Bruh, if you don't know wtf you're talking bout you shouldn't feel obliged to write something down.

    Black Lizzy McGuire/anyone on Nick Jr/emo rapper=Drake.

You pick one song and the lyrics on it to use as your proof? GTFO.

I think Jalen did state that Grant coming from the kind of background(which would kinda be like living the dream if one is a poor kid) =proof of being jealous.

Say what you want but his music is a fresh breeze and the albums were pretty dope. Know it can't be considered real rap, but it has a good vibe.

I disagree with both you and Javal.
Javal- Shane is not a joke to the black community. Well I guess that then depends on what exactly constitutes the black community. Are we talking about just in the USA? Are we talking about all blacks(because there are Africans, Carribeans and other kinds of black folk not just A.Americans in this country) or just A.Americans?

Ronny- The above applies to your statement as well. You may want to elaborate on the blacks threatened by guys like Battier because there are many different types of black people in the USA.

Beg to differ. It's just average IMO. Kinda watered down. Come up, Warm up and FNL are so much better. (Granted Cole World has a bunch of songs from those mixtapes). I and I'm sure some others expected more but hey, it's still better than WTT and Carter IV so that's a win.
