He won't make us a contender.

He'll hog the ball and stunt the growth of our young team.

He'll be a bad influence on the young players.

    He'll hurt our draft position.

    He'll clog up payroll.

    Yeah, that about covers it.

I'm still calling BS on this rumor.

I am not all that worried about "our young players." It's not like these guys didn't spend time around Underwear Warier Artest or Prima Donna McGrady last year.

Raven, I hope you're right. Maybe this is all smokescreen? Something's going on, if we're really adding Pops...

very good move if he signs. Morey loves making these type of deals. If it doesnt work out, you move him. We are talking about a MVP / Scoring Champ player. Rockets need points & to me he is a better passer than Aaron Brooks.

Blog from the Miami Heat beat writer about Iverson. Looks like Iverson has no idea about a deal, I think its wishful thinking on his part that he knows if someone is going to sign him soon.

Iverson tweets, but NBA not all atwitter

    > Posted by Ira Winderman on August 19, 2009 02:29 PM
It could be worse. It could be having to decipher Stephon Marbury's webcam sessions, a truly bizarre summer descent in voyeurism.

The difference is Marbury very well may never play another game in the NBA.

Allen Iverson likely will. The confounding part is Iverson now says he could wind up signing for next season before knowing his destination.

    Seriously (or so he says).

Anyway we first offer up some of what Iverson has offered up on his Twitter account these past two days:

•"If you think that I am just going away-Think again! I am getting ready for the NBA season. Waiting for the call. Charlotte, Miami, NY."
•"Getting in shape, running, lifting and thinking about which team that I will help compete for a championship! Whoever gets me will be happy"
•"I have had a year to get ready, my back is fine now don't worry. When you see me again you will think that I am fresh out of Georgetown!"
•"I have heard all of the doubters, but they should know that I willnot be broken and I will remain true to my fans. I spoke with my manager"
•"the other day and told him that I am again a student of the game. I am studying video and breaking down film. I want to be the b"
•"best that I can be. One doesn't plan to fail, they fail to plan. I am planning for my comeback. Plan to hear from me daily on Twitter.com"
•"My people just informed me that we are getting close to a deal. I asked them to call me the when its done. I am so ready to know!"
•"I have not been this eager with anticipation since the night before the NBA Draft in 96. Then I knew where I was going, now I want to know!"
•"I have been blessed to make plenty of money in this league. Now it's not about the money, its about playing me getting back on the court &"
•"playing every game like its my last! Stay tuned."

OK, we'll stay tuned. Those updates, if you want to call them that, were through midday Wednesday.

What is known is the Heat is nowhere near a decision on Iverson, preferring to wait until far closer to the Sept. 28 start of training camp. Interest from the Knicks long has been overstated. And while Larry Brown has an affection for Iverson dating to their time together in Philadelphia, things in Charlotte are a mess amid the possibility of the franchise being for sale.

But in Twitter generation who truly knows what's going to happen? At least until the next tweet.

Bonzi played very well for us when we had Adelman. 10-4 off the bench I think...He was solid...

He wasn't that great... 9.2 points on .480 TS% (i.e. WAY below average). But apparently that was enough to get New Orleans to bite on a trade to help the team dump Mike James. So, thank you Bonzi!

But then his career was over and all he could do was to take his ass over to the Chinese league.

Your post was funny im sorry i had to respond and laugh because how do you know he is going to be a bad influence on the young guys?? why because of his famous "practice" speach??

If he'll hurt our draft position then thats a good thing considering we would be going deeeeeeep into the playoffs. The lower our draft position the better chance we probably would have in the playoffs. But that right there is not all true. We don't know what is going to happen. For all you know Morey could somehow someway get a high draft pick by packaging someone for a pick.

Yeah he'll clog up the payroll with a 1 year deal. Hahahaha. You act like its 4 years or something. 1 year about 2 mil or something.

Last but not least He won't make us a contender?? Hmmm thats funny considering the guys on our roster we have now don't help us. I would say he at least makes a better than worse. Especially with a 1 year rental or whatever this deal maybe.

Ask yourself this one question. What guard available right now that's a free agent would you take right now that is proven and can fill the seats and give you money?? Anyone with Iverson caliber??

Iverson is a HOF player and gives heart out every play on offense, and his body has taken a beaten because of it, but the man never has played solid defense. Jeff Van Gundy said it best; the nuggets and Iverson over commit to steals, leaving no individual responsibility on defense. George Karl kept trying to preach defense with Iverson but the Nuggets were terrible defensively til Billups. Fake hustle is better then no hustle

Bonzi was also traded that same year Adelman came. He only played up to the trading deadline. Why he was traded I have no idea.

I agree but disagree to a stint. Iverson and the whole Nuggets team didn't play a lick of defense you can not blame one guy not playing defense that will effect your whole team. Hell Tracy McGrady doesn't play defense that well but he can when his mind is on it. Yao Ming doesn't play defense but this year proved that if he put his mind to it he can do it.

The whole team with Iverson on the Nuggets didn't play defense. No Birdman that year either. Usually a block sets up everything. Now When they traded for Billups Birdman was playing. Billups is a traditional pg. Iverson style of play is not like Billups. Usually when you play run n gun there is NO defense. Iverson is a run n gun type of player. Denver this year really didn't play a whole lot of run n gun style.

Yeah could have been but I also remember guys being upset because he was traded. As a fan I didn't understand why he was traded also considering he was having such a good year compared to last. Maybe the year before was his calling card.

Its also funny how some guys/woman post I read that said No to Iverson are probably the ones who were rooting hard for the Return of Steve Francis and they both play the same way. Or use to play the same way. The only difference was Iverson scored more with his dribbling but didn't dunk alot. Francis dribbled the shot clock out just to miss. They both were entertainment but Iverson contributed more.

That team had Marcus Camby; he averaged almost 4 blocks that year. The Nuggets offensive efficiency stayed the same with Billups, and defensively they improved greatly. The Nuggets were still a run n gun team with Billups BTW. Tracy McGrady was an elite defender in Toronto, and he's rarely out of position. Yao plays his role on Defense by clogging the middle. Iverson plays passing lanes, and his man constantly beat him because of it. Camby had to block those shots or teams would average 125 on them.

Im not sure we was watching the same Nuggets then considering Melo posted up more as to when Iverson was there and they both was competing with chucking up shots. To me they slowed the tempo down with Billups there as to Iverson considering Billups is a better floor general than Iverson.

Whatever happened in Denver happened. The Rockets are a defensive minded team( if you can even still consider that ) and need an offensive presence like A.I. This could be the 76ers part 2 but with better role players around him. I know he isn't young like he was before but the man can still ball. The man basically had 1 bad season as to the year b4 he put up decent all star numbers and guys are saying no. Hmmmm makes me wonder about some guys on here basketball knowledge.
