I always knew Iverson was a thug, but damn......that guy needs to learn how to talk. Besides the reoccuring 'aint's' and 'sh!ts', 90% of his answers were STUPID and did not have anything to do with the question whatsoever, mainly the one where he starts mentioning God. The hell was that?? Then he writes practice off like it's nothing. One word - immature. He's shown he's DEFINITELY "ain't" a leader. When will he realize that showing up to practice is not really about practicing basketball. He probably doesn't need to practice another jump shot in is life. But it's about setting an example to his teammates. I'm glad that Larry Brown made it known to his team that missing practice is not acceptable and that he doesn't get any special priviledges just because he's the star.

    Trade for Iverson? Hell no.

So what if the guy is not the most articulate guy in the world and maybe he did use the word "ain't" too many times in the interview, but who cares. Why are "yall" making such a big hoopla over the way the guy talks. I mean worrying about what kind of grades he made, so freakin what. The guy is one of the best players I've seen in a long time. Just a year ago everybody was on his jock and now everyone's bashing him for some comments that Larry Brown said about practice. Come on man we're talking about practice.........practice.......not the actual game, but practice. Frankly, I'm tired of Larry Brown and all of his antics. If you guys haven't noticed, Larry Brown is using Iverson as his scapegoat because he's failing. He was pissed off about Iverson having surgery right before training camp but why didn't he go to the media and complain about Aaron McKie having surgery at the same time. I mean McKie was the second leading scorer on the team last year. So I'm glad that Iverson went off at that press conference with his not so articulate self. Just because he uses slang makes you wonder what kind of grades he made...please. Everybody is always praising Larry Brown and how goog of a coach he is but honestly the guy sucks when it comes to the big stage. He sucked it up with the Clippers, Spurs, and now the Sixers. He didn't do a hell of a job witht the Sixers last year, that was all Iverson and Croce. I'm not a huge Iverson fan but I am a fan of his game, heart, and warrior mentality on the court. So I'm glad that he shot the media with his "ain't", "**it", and whatever use of slang he did use because that was frustration coming out of him that was long overdue. Constantly being the culprit of bad press.

After watching the highlights, he seemed to handle himself quite well. He just said what was on his mind. No big deal. Not everyone can be as dull and boring as Clyde Drexler.

And the thing is, that's exactly what Reggie Miller did after the Pacers-Nets game 5, telling the truth albeit making critical comments, yet gets railed against for said comments.

And it's exactly what Tracy McGrady did before game 4 of Charlotte-Orlando, yet he gets utterly blasted. Yet, the common thread among all three player's comments? They were true.

As far as future NBA stars and their collegiate experience, let me quote Charles Barkley:

"As long as I led my conference in scoring, I knew my grades would be fine."

there is no good scorer on that team because iverson made them all leave. Larry Hughes when he started scoring iverson made sure he was the only scorer. Jerry Stackhouse, he could score so they dumped him to. kukoc could score (ok so he doesn't do it every day) but they traded him for the worst offensive center in the nba, (yes i know cato still plays in the nba but Mutombo is just pathetic).

they all where traded because iverson coudn't stand it if anyone took some shots besides him. he is the most spoiled and selfiish player i have ever seen.

PLEASE DO NOT TRADE IVERSON TO HOUSTON, I DON'T WANT TO FIND ANOTHER TEAM TO CHEER FOR

Iverson is one confused puppy. As hard as it is, forget the grammar and listen to the content. I have seldom heard this low of a level of logic in an adult.

LB: You missed another practice today Allen and you didn't call in.

AI: It's all cool, Larry. I was just talking to god and he said it was all OK because you're a man and I'm a man and sh** your my man and god is god and it's all cool sh**, man. So like it's no big deal 'cause you know how much I put out during the game and when we win it's because it was my MVP effort and god's will and when we lose...well, maybe the team needs to just practice some more...And hey, this time keep it out of the press 'cause you know my job is basketball and god's job is being god and reporters don't play basketball so they couldn't even walk a minute in my shoes..sh**, I bet they can't even talk to god and hey Larry, you ain't been MVP in awhile, so you can't walk in my shoes either..in fact, I'll bet your like those reporters and you can't talk to god either.

LB: So you're not going to be at tomorrow's pre-game walk through?

AI: Sh**, Larry now we're communicatin' and we don't need no d*** reporters and my kid looked real sick this morning.

This is the kind of person I can envision being broke someday in spite of all of the millions he will have made.

For the record, I haven't jumped off the Iverson bandwagon...I disliked his whole personna from Day 1.

"I'm supposed to be the franchise player and we're in here talking about practice. Not a game -- we're talking about practice. How silly is that?

"I know I'm supposed to be there, I know I'm supposed to lead by example, I know that. I'm not shoving it aside. I know it's important, but we're talking about practice."

    Yeah, that makes sense.

Same old crap in the NBA.....that's been going on for years.
Another NBA player telling how he feels, and people hating him.
I agree with with AI......probably one of the few on these boards.

Yeah Practice, I dont know about the NBA game but in all other forms of basketball practice is where you win games. Wooden said Practice is where you win, the games are just a product of how well you practiced. Yeah practice is real overrated. thats why Jordan takes off as many practices as possible.

In my view AI has taken another step down. If the guy wants to better himself he needs to do it in practice and in the weight room. I am willing to bet he would miss half as much time due to injuries if he did those two things

Look at all the legends, or soon to be legends. what made them great? hard work, trust me skipping practice is not hard work. showing up 1 hour before practice and leaving 1 hour after practice so you can work on your game is hard work. Iverson is so so so talented but he does not know how to work outside of the game. his career will be plauged be injuries.

    Q. What do you think about the Cougar's now that you're no longer the coach?

    A. I look forward to many more years living in Houston. This town has given me so much. I am truly blessed.

    Q. What do you think of Hakeem leaving Houston?

    A. It would be quite an honor to see Hakeems' number retired next to mine, as I'm sure it is for Hakeem.

    Q. Would you like to some day coach the Rockets or be a GM here?

    A. I've watched a lot of tape of my days playing here, and I think I can bring that video to the game still and watch it in new capacities.

    Q. Do you think Rudy and CD's days are numbered?

    A. Rudy's number is hanging from the rafters, as well as mine, and that is quite an honor.

    Q. Do you think Larry Smith is a better candidate for Rudy's job than you.

    A. *******, seniority ass b****ing no shooting sweating slow ass thug...oops...hehe...Did I say how much I enjoy watching games with Les and his wife?

I'm surprised no one has made the JR Rider comparison yet. By the way - where is JR now?

Yeah, it was in last years playoffs. He couldn't quite think of the right word, and finally he just smiled and said, "whatever, you know what I mean."

    touche :D

What exactly do you agree with? That its not important for a team leader getting paid millions of dollars to attend practice?

While there is a lot to be said about speaking the truth, as you see it, it is a far cry from being honest about your feelings and being right or commendable...Suppose I were to tell how I feel...that I am God, that all others are of lesser worth than me, that people of different races shouldn't breed...that people of different genders shouldn't breed..that people of the same race or gender shouldn't breed...that the world isn't quite flat, more like an elipse...that I'm not shoving aside the value of practice, but, man, it's just silly practice...that aliens not only live amongst us, but have taken over the DMV....that it was actually the Ancient Egyptians who invented the Big Mac....that I place no value in individual awards, but, damn, I'm the MVP, how can I be being criticized?....etc..etc..

This "just telling how he feels" line is another of those contemporarily accepted mantras which has evolved from a half-truth to a truism, like 'accepting that there is a problem' used to be considered half the solution, now it is seen as a solution in and of itlself, ie.." That's just the way I am." as an eternal excuse for any idiocy...man, I'm in a bad mood...might go kill me some folks, hey, just the way I am, and telling how I feel...

( Just to be clear, last comment was meant to be irreverant.)

My bad y'all....I was too general with my comments, and I guess it's not exactly what I wanted to say. :)
I don't agree with missing practice, but the media announcing things like "misses practices" just makes everyone assume that he misses at least a 1/4 of the practices.
We don't know exactly what's going on with each team and their camps.

I'm just sick of all these "drama" situations that the media brings into sports just to get stories.
It's not like these problems haven't been going on for the past 5/6 years.........as a coach or management you have to take care of issues like these early on or they rarely get resolved and end up getting much worse.

If Larry Brown has a problem with Iverson, resolve it, trade him, or just leave.
If Iverson has a problem with Larry Brown, resolve it, or ask to be traded.
It's pointless to bring all these crap out into the media.....nothing but stories.

-Last year Iverson was the "mature" 25 year old that was reborn and ready to head his team into the future.

-This year Payton has had an "attitude transplant".

-Couple seasons ago, and a little bit during last year "Shaq and Kobe can't get along."

I'm just sick of hearing about the so called "drama".
