What about the Kings? Bibby, Martin and Picks for A.I.? They got Mr. Defense in Artest, and when they get Mr. Offense in A.I., they could be a contender right now.
I am very scared about the mavs getting AI. Harris + Howard for AI This trade makes sense for both teams, philly gets younger and deeper, mavs get a legit star and they wont need harris when they have AI, so its basically like trading a solid player (howard) for an allstar. The mavs have a bunch of players they can work with in a trade. A team with dirk as the leader will never win the championship because he is a soft, pansy, flopping, needs the refs to bail him out jump shooter. But a team where dirk plays second fiddle, to a clutch aggressive superstar is VERY scary.
dude i would LOVE the mavericks to trade howard and harris for AI. i think that would be a huge mistake on their part and it would help us out.
I disagree. The Mavs would probably win the title if they traded for Iverson. That team has everything except a guy with the balls to close a game out. Good thing they traded Marquis Daniels for Croshere or I could see them trading Howard in a second (in a package deal) for Iverson.
What do guys think about this trade? Seems to be pretty accurate based on the latest rumormill IMO... http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=10~99~2381~194~1013~2173~366&teams=9~20~20~4~20~4~9
SI is reporting that Iverson nixed a trade to Charlotte because he didn't want to play there. Since Iverson is the one who requested the trade....how does he even have any say in where he goes???
My guess is if Iverson is adamant about not going to the Bobcats, then Charlotte became less keen on giving up assets for him. I doubt it's anything where he had a legal right to nix a trade. Sort of like T-Mac in Orlando saying he only wanted to go to Houston .... other suitors not only had to beat Houston's offer, they had to make T-Mac happy to be going to a place he didn't want to be.
What Clutch said. Supposedly, the Bobcats are still in the mix as a third-party. They're $14 mill under the cap which could be huge in getting a trade to go through. If they're involved, they could send out a TE that makes it far easier to move Iverson's $18 million salary. Evan
$14 mill Charlotte cap number today: $39 (league min) Salary Cap today: $53.1 The Bobcats had to spend at the last minute to make the league minimum for payroll. Evan
basically CHAR sends Philly a young player or two that they would want as compensation for Iverson, adn then they absorb the rest of the difference between their salaries and Iverson's....then Philly gets a trade exception worth that amount, which they have for one year. They can either use it to trade to another team that needs the cap space, or just let it expire, reducing their cap by the TE amount.
Well, apparently the Maloofs want AI. And they have absolutely no qualms with creating Armaggedon in NoCal by pairing him up with Artest. It's an open secret that Mike Bibby hasn't been sitting pretty in Sacramento since Ron-Ron arrived, and they certainly wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger on that deal. I wonder who else would have to be packaged ... obviously Kevin Martin is out of the question. But this deal makes way too much sense. And if it happens, the already competitive West will suddenly get even tougher (AI + Martin + Artest + Miller?).
I wouldn't be too worried about an Iverson/Artest team going anywhere in the post season. The only player on the team left that is willing to pass the ball would be Brad Miller. Iverson would make Kevin Martin revert to being a 7 ppg guy, Artest would start b****ing about not getting enough shots (like he did in Indiana with O'Neal), and the defense would get worse since Martin can't hide Iverson when they play someone like the Nets. Evan
I wouldn't mind Charlotte but I guess AI doesn't want the responsibility of turning around a team. Got a 2nd scorer in Morrison and a good big man with Okafor.
I ain't that worried either... Kings will still lack defense and rebounding. Offensively though, Iverson will make them better. Artest and Martin can split the 30 shots Webber and Igoudala split on the Sixers last season.
When will it happen...It can't happen soon enough...no matter what you say, he balls...Practice, well...
Boston Herald - One Allen Iverson rumor, reported by the Boston Herald, has the Clippers offering Shaun Livingston and Corey Maggette. “If (King) can get that deal, then he’d have to take it,” a league executive said. “Livingston is a great player - a 6-7 point guard.” [READ] Imagine LA having both KOBE/IVERSON when was the last time Clipper had a marketing superstar?
