The short list is getting shorter. Cuban said Dallas is not interested. Isiah said he is happy with the Knicks and not interested. Karl said Denver is not looking to make a change.
I haven't heard anyting, but just looking at salaries and a fair offer, i'd say AI is going to Memphis if the new ownership okays it. Gay, this years 1st round, Eddie Jones, warrick works under the CBA. Makes sense for memphis since this would make them at least playoff contenders with Gasol and AI. Sux for phily, but i think thats the best they can get because its so hard to match that 18 million that AI is making without trading another all-star and no one is goign to trade their All-star for AI. Well, unless they're isiah, but he doesn't have any all-stars.
Just saw on halftime of the UT-LSU game that Philly's brass is meeting and a trade is expected within 48 hours. Carry on. (Only implication deals wise would mean that guys signed over the offseason are not eligible to be traded, thus out - ie, Mike James)
Sorry if it's been posted, but I just heard on the radio that there are 2 possible 3-team deals that will likely take place in the next 48 hrs (like someone else posted earlier). No other details on what possible teams are involved.
if the mavericks end up with iverson in exchange for some package of absolute garbage like they have been known to pull off in the cuban era, i will absolutely puke. a clutch guy like AI would put them over the top.
I love the idea of Francis going to Philly. He will blow up without having to worry about sharing the ball with Marbury and Crawford. Comeback player of the year. Get it done! With Iverson on board, Marbury will mope around even more and eventually be banished to the bench. NY will still suck and the "Fire Isiah" chants will continue to be heard in MSG.
I don't care where he goes, as long as it is NOT the Mavericks. AI in a Mavs uniform is not something I can ever become accustomed to; it would be a BIG downer for the other Texas teams.
I've heard it a few times on this thread, but I honestly think Chicago would be one of the best situations for both teams. Philly could get Gordon, who is talented, albeit inconsistent, PJ's expiring contract, and Luol Deng or Nocioni (if I were Chicago, I'd try to keep Deng). Chicago, who is not playing as well as a lot of people thought they would, could let AI handle the scoring and allow Hinrich to be more effective by not being relied upon to score as much. I'm sure that there are some 3-team scenarios that would work (and that's probably what will happen this week), but I'm not going to attempt to dream up any...I've got finals.
Oh yeah, I also don't know how AI would work out in Dallas. I think it sounds a lot scarier than it would be. I don't necessarily think it would be an improvement, since they're playing well after shaking off the bad start... It probably would be an upgrade though. I don't wanna find out if I'm right or wrong.
How can you trade Iverson for T-Mac and have Iverson join TMac and Yao??? I think the only way we land Iverson is if we give up Yao or Tmac, plus a couple of our young guys or picks, and I don't see the Rockets branch doing that. I can see Iverson goin to either the Wolves or the LAL.
I was trying out the ESPN trade machine, and this trade would work out between the LAL and Philly. The Sixers would trade Allen Iverson and Steven Hunter to the Lakers, and in return would receive Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown. I think that trade might be even for both teams. It'll be interesting to see an AI-Kobe backcourt.
Yeah-hunh. Kobe: "Gimme the ball!" AI: "MY BALL! MY TEAM, MY BALL!" Kobe: "WHAT! YOU DIDN'T EVEN SHOW UP FOR PRACTICE! HOW CAN IT BE YOUR TEAM?" AI: "PRACTICE?!?!"
