Is there any truth to the report that AI has demanded a trade to the T-Puppies (soon to become a full-grown Wolf if they get AI)? <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Y7gSwkVr-WU"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Y7gSwkVr-WU" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Per Tiger Mission 1: "A-Train, I can't believe you compared the legend known as A.I. to that freakin' loser Marbury...that's just uncalled for, man. That's like comparing Shareef Abdul-Raheem (SAR) to Sir Charles." Absolutely right Tiger mission 1. Shareef Abdur Rahim seems like a good character guy- no point soiling his image. __________________
Any one trading for AI will have to give up at least one promising young talent. So say Minny wants to get him, then they will have to give up that kid Foye, along with guys like Ricky Davis/Mike James and a pair of first rounders.
Nope, he got his trade kicker. How funny would that be if that trade kicker ended up costing the T-Wolves a shot at AI? EDIT: LMAO. Anyone watching this game on espn? Jim Gray just said that the number he has had for years that he thought was Iverson's was an impostor feeding him false information. I just find it funny that would happen to Jim Gray.
Jim Gray just reported that he was talking to an imposter on his cell phone, not Allen Iverson. So Iverson saying he wants to be traded, and to Minnesota, is not necessarily true. Interesting...
For Rockets fans, this is like the "Jesscia Simpson just became single!!!" threads... Yeah, she's available, but your ass ain't got no chance with her.
Chicago Bulls Incoming Players Allen Iverson Philadelphia 76ers Ben Gordon Andres Nocioni or Luol Deng P.J. Brown
From nba.com http://www.nba.com/nba_news/iverson_sixers_wizards_061208.html ----------------------------------------------------- 76ers Send Iverson Home Against Wizards By DAN GELSTON, AP Sports Writer Posted Dec 8 2006 7:30PM PHILADELPHIA(AP) Allen Iverson's tumultuous career in Philadelphia took another turn Friday when the former NBA MVP hinted that a trade may be best after the 76ers sent him home and ruled him out of their next two games. With his name swirling in heavy trade rumors, Iverson didn't play Friday against Washington, and 76ers president Billy King said the All-Star would not play on Saturday. King would not say before the Sixers' game against the Wizards if Iverson had asked for a trade or if he was actively trying to trade Philadelphia's franchise player. Iverson released a statement through his agent, Leon Rose, where he acknowledged he may have played his last game for the Sixers. ``As hard as it is to admit, a change may be the best thing for everyone,'' he said. ``I hate admitting that because I love the guys on the team and the city of Philadelphia. I truly wanted to retire a 76er.'' The Sixers said earlier in the day that Iverson was scratched because of back spasms, but he was listed simply as ``out'' on the game notes. King said it was not a suspension and Iverson's future would be re-evaluated after Saturday night's game at Orlando. ``We made the decision he will not be with us tonight or tomorrow because he couldn't practice yesterday or today,'' King said. Coach Maurice Cheeks said Friday it was his decision to send Iverson home. Iverson said he was told not to participate in shootaround, even though he said he could play. Iverson said after watching shootaround from the sideline, he was told not to come to the arena. ``In my entire career, even the doctors haven't been able to tell me not to play,'' Iverson said. ``I've played through injury and illness. I think everyone knows how much I love being out on the court, competing and winning. That's why it was so disheartening to be told that I couldn't play, knowing that I was ready. It hurt even more to be told not to come at all.'' Iverson left Wednesday night's blowout loss at Chicago in the second half complaining of the spasms and did not practice Thursday. However, the former MVP could be on the trading block, with his name the subject of rampant rumors with the Sixers 5-12 and on a five-game losing streak entering Friday's game. ``Allen was not able to practice yesterday because of the back and today Mo made a decision not to play him tonight or tomorrow,'' King said. ``We told him to just take the night off and tomorrow.'' Iverson, who leads the league with 31.7 points per game, left a practice last week reportedly after a disagreement with Cheeks and skipped a team function for season-ticket holders later that night. He apologized and was fined by the organization.
If Denver are serious about AI, 76ers need to consider expiring contracts (Miller and Smith) and pick/s. Alternatively a deal with the Hawks for Speedy, Lue, and Marvin would be good too.
If I was Philly, I would be concentrating on Minny. They want him and they have the best young player available in Foye. Denver probably wants him but Philly gets nothing from them but expirings. Philly is too far over the cap for expiring contracts only to help them. Those expirings would have to come with a draft pick and Denver's pick isn't going to be high enough to help them. They are better off working on a deal for Foye and getting Minny to possibly throw in McCants as well. Minny could probably get this deal done if they could turn either Ricky Davis, Troy, or Mike James into expiring dollars. Toronto has Mo Pete's expiring deal. Not sure if they would be willing to move Mo Pete for Ricky Davis. Pretty sure they wouldn't want Troy or Mike James back though. That leaves Denver with Joe Smith. Do they do Smith for Ricky Davis? If they do, it knocks them out of the Maggette sweepstakes. I'm sure Minny would like to keep MJ but I just don't think a deal where Philly has to take back Troy, Davis, and Jaric to get Foye is doable. Too many players and too many cuts for Philly. They will need something that is expiring. And I can't see too many teams willing to give up expirings for Troy or Jaric. Davis is the next best bet and that is questionable. I guess what I'm saying is they may have to send MJ somewhere for expirings. I'm sure James would want to come to Houston over anywhere else and we have the necessary expirings to make the deal work in Bonzi and Sura. So, there is a possibility of getting James and if nothing else, we could possibly shake out someone else with Bonzi or whatever. The Iverson situation is favorable for the Rox.
Gotta be Denver. As much as Iverson would like to go to Minny and as much as King would want Boston to put their young kids out there plus draft picks, Denver is the realistic choice. Iverson for Andre Miller/ J.R. Smith/ Joe Smith/ #1 Draft Pick 1. They got talent to return. With the way J.R. Smith is playing right now, his stock cannot be any higher than it is right now. Granted, I think Smith is the PERFECT complement for Melo, but he's not the proven guy-you-will-need-come-playoff-time like Iverson is. Plus, Andre Miller is a more than capable point guard that Philly never really had (well..if you include Eric Snow's performance as "good"). I think fielding a team of: C-Dalembert PF-Webber SF-Igoudala SG-JR Smith PG-Miller Plus Korver, Willie Green, Rodney Carney coming off the bench, they got a decent shot at rebuilding the team faster than they would have imagined AND still have a shot at the Atlantic Division. 2. They got expiring contracts Joe Smith's and Andre Miller's contract comes off the books after the season to the tune of $15.5 mil total. This helps alleviate the salary cap choke hold they've been in. If, by chance, that they gets them under the cap, then they further have more room to add players in their rebuilding efforts 3. They get their draft pick Sure the Nuggets' draft pick might not be so high but with the belief that this 2007 draft is "deep", two picks (theirs and Denver's) in the 1st round further strengthen their rebuilding efforts.
George Karl has said they're not interested because he doesn't want to ruin the chemistry they have this season.
