Fab! This team needs more firepower. With Battier and Hayes starting, and with V-Span and Mutumbo in the rotation, there's just not enough scoring punch on this team. We were hoping that Bonzi could provide that pop, but it hasn't worked out.
Ummmmmm, he mentioned us as a possible 3rd team to take on a contract, not as getting AI. We're probably looking at Evans for the TE or some deal like that.
I just hope that the Rockets' brass are actively trying to improve this team through trades or something else. We definitely need another scoring threat, and we probably need to see if we can improve our team at the PG and the PF positions.
Can't see anyone on Denver's roster that makes sense for us outside the untouchables. Save maybe a young project like Julius Hodge or possibly that Kleza kid. I don't think our PF play has warranted taking on a Reggie Evans for the TE. JLIII is Boykins lite. Just don't see anything significant that can be had in this trade in a 3 way.
Maggette, Livingston, and future 1st rounder for Iverson.. Book it.. It makes so much sense right now.. Maggette has already asked to be traded. The only thing is Clippers said no-Livingston but I bet they would pull the trade if that was the final step for a trade for Iverson. It is already well known 76ers want youth and expiring contracts, as in draft picks and Shaun Livingston is a highly sought after young talent(very talented & tall pg). I also believe an expiring contract could be thrown in there as well to sweeten the deal or in place of the draft pick/Livingston. It also helps these teams are in different Conferences.. But the question is.. Do you think the Clippers would be giving up too much(bc of the 1st rounder) or is this fair?
Doesn't work salary-wise. But how about LA sending Cassell to Houston, with Sura, V-Span, and a 1st round pick to Philly?
AI only wants to go to a contender. Does Rox have a chance? We should offer anybody not named Yao or Tmac, ANYBODY.
if denver gets rid of nene's contract AND gets AI that would be disgusting for the west. philadelphia f#$ked themselves in the process.
Here's the trade. Minny sends us Mike James. We send Philly Bob Sura and Steve Novak/Scott Padgett and our 2007 #1. Why? Obvious. Minny sends Dallas Ricky Davis and Bracey Wright. Dallas sends Philly Austin Croshere. Why? Stackhouse is a FA. Davis is insurance for him leaving and Davis is an expiring next year. Minny sends Philly Foye and their #1. Philly sends out AI and gets back, Foye, two #1s, and expirings. We get MJ for our #1, Sura's contract and either Padgett's expiring. Dallas gets Ricky Davis for Croshere and a young player in Bracey Wright. Minny gets AI for Ricky Davis, Mike James, Foye, and their #1.
Interesting idea. Four team trades rarely happen but this is actually a pretty well thought out idea. The only problem would have to be Philly likely not being satisfied with what they get in return. It's not that Foye, expirings and two #1's isn't enough for a player like AI, it's just that a trade like this leaves them almost no chance of competing and being a serious team this year. But then again, maybe that isn't a concern and they do plan on entering hardcore rebuilding mode? There's always the Greg Oden sweepstakes I guess. Getting MJ back would be absolutely incredible and exactly what we need plus we can always keep calling Keith Van Horn until he answers to replace Novak and Padgett.
I wouldn't give up our 2007 first rounder to get back James. This should be a good draft, and I don't want to forfeit that pick (and Novak) just to get James. This isn't a year to toss picks away... Evan
Interesting...if "28 out of 30" NBA teams have been contacted by the Sixers to discuss possible trade scenarios that would involve AI, there is a high likelihood that the Rockets was one of those teams contacted. It doesn't mean that there were serious discussions between the two sides, but still... Of course, it could be nothing more than the Sixers' brass doing their due diligence to explore every possible option out there... Heat pull out of Iverson bidding http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-heat-iverson&prov=ap&type=lgns MIAMI (AP) -- Cross Miami off the list of potential landing spots for Allen Iverson. Heat coach Pat Riley said Monday that the defending NBA champions have pulled out of the running for the disgruntled Philadelphia 76ers superstar, who is out of action and on the sidelines while awaiting to be traded. Miami had been mentioned as a possible destination for Iverson, but Riley squashed any hope of a deal that would have brought one of the NBA's leading scorers to South Florida. "We are out of the Allen Iverson conversation," Riley said Monday before the Heat played the New Orleans Hornets. "This isn't going to move forward. We have discussed every scenario. It never became formal offers. "It's time for us to move on." Riley said he was aware that Philadelphia contacted 28 of the 30 NBA teams. Talks between the Heat and Sixers never turned into serious offers or specific scenarios, he said. "I thought it was in the best interest of the franchise to at least explore it," Riley said. "As of today, we're done with it." Riley pulled the trigger on a blockbuster trade two summers ago that brought All-Star center Shaquille O'Neal. Teamed with guard Dwyane Wade, the Heat reached the Eastern Conference Finals and then won the franchise's first NBA title last season. Adding Iverson to the mix would have created a dazzling backcourt and given the Heat a much-needed scoring boost while O'Neal recovers from a knee injury. It won't happen, though. "Scenarios and discussions always turn into offers," Riley said. "When you have 28 teams talking, it can get complicated, and then you start trying to match up the dollars. We just decided to move out."
