I agree and if that's the case Denver should do that deal anyday of the week and twice on Sundays!

It would be interesting if Iverson would be traded to Denver.
    Nuggets4 thanks for sharing.

I bet it's Miller, maybe JR Smith and the 2 no. 1 picks, with a 3rd team providing the expiring contract. Philly is getting in on the Oden sweepstakes.

I haven't researched this yet but didn't Denver give up a ton of their future #1's in the K-Mart trade? I know it's been a couple years since that but I do know they gave up more than one and selected Hodge in the 1st round two years ago.

    Does anybody know for sure?

Yes, they have 2 picks. They got the extra one from Dallas. That would give Philly 3 No. 1's to deal with in the super awesome 2007 draft.

If the draft were tomm, Denver would have the #21 and #28 (Dallas)

The thing is is that AI essentially has the same T-Mac "I'm only going to so many teams" clout in this process. AI pretty much took CHA and all of Cali (LAC, SAC, GS) out of the equation, and since Philly is obviously going to be hesitant to deal him in the same conference (ala Indy) much less the same division (ala Boston), the last 2 remaining West teams out there he'd play for are Denver and Minny. Since Minny doesn't have any draft picks this DECADE, deductive logic should tell you were he's going IMO...

Denver has 2 1st round picks and the expiring contract of Joe Smith. My guess is those assets would be part of the deal. The only question is who else is in the deal to match AI's salary? Maybe Andre Miller?

It sounds like they are trying to send Nene somewhere (3rd team) would would then send an ending contract to Philly. The likely candidates are Dallas (Austin Croshere) and Portland (Jamaal Magliore) but it could be anybody else who wants Nene and can give up a player whose contract ends this year or next year, when Webber's contract is up and Philly would zoom from being in luxury tax hell to being under the cap.

This may be a good strategy for Philly if they have 3 picks in this year's strong draft (two in trade and their own), get Andre Miller, keep Iggy, Carney, and Dalembert, and get under the cap for a decent free agent crop following next season.

    I think this will happen.

What will be interesting is how A.I. and Carmelo will co-exist and with Karl too.

I hope the realize that the plan to bring the leather ball back Jan 1 means just that they are replacing the synthetic one with leather... not allowing teams to have one of each in play at the same time. 'Melo and A.I. need two basketballs!

    :D

Pacertom, I agree the Nene for Magloire and then shipping that Magloire salary to Philly is probably what they want to do. But I am not so sure Portland wants to take on Nene's salary. Ditto with Dallas. That's a lot of money for a lot of years for a player coming off injury. I think teams would be a bit skeptical.

Why anybody wants Nene is beyond me. Unrealized potential? Check. Injury risk, bust so far, in the first year of massive contract? Check.

No kidding. An albatross for Denver. It'll be a long time before they can move him, IMO. Certainly not this season.

Totally agree! I am sure there was buyer's remorse before the ink was even dry on that contract. It looks even worse when you see that Kenyon Martin is also on the payroll.

If Portland takes Nene, they are stupid. They are building through the draft and free agency. They should be looking to dump Raef and Miles if it were possible for expirings.

If Nene goes they're keeping Andre Miller... That sucks for the West.

There's no reason for Dallas to make that trade in your scenario. They dont gain anything of significance for Croshere's expiring contract. In fact they lose Croshere's outside shooting.

Legler just mentioned Houston among several teams as possible 3rd teams in the AI deal.
