when my wife and i were dating she watched rockets games with me all the time...then she married me...she virtually stopped watching rockets games with me after that (though she claims it's because the cast of players she liked were no longer with the team)...but then i pulled a fast one on her...i got her pregnant with my son...and of course i brainwashed my son to be a HUGE Houston sports fan...he is two and calls Yao Ming and Steve Francis by name...he LOVES Clutch the Bear...so if my wife wishes to spend time with me and my son, she better put on her freaking rocket gear and get ready!!! i love my son!
Great News Drew now contact Heyp and get yourself a ticket to Rockets game when i am visiting and get yourself a place large enough for the other Austinites to join us for the game
Welcome Drewdog...so far we've had two viewing parties at Barry's Pizza - of course our good friend B made a poor choice about the last one. (By the way B, you missed out on a good one last time - about 8 people showed up) I'd like to see viewing parties every away game that's not on 51 - but we'll have to see. We're actually trying to figure out a new venue that will actually let us listen to the game but still has good food. See you at the next gathering!
Your story mirrors mine. Wife always watched durring the glory years when we were living together but not married. The we got married and the players changed and she lost interest. Now i've got my little girl (2.5 years old) brainwashed and I'm working on my son (8 mos old today). My little girl loves the rockets and gets all geared up. Her favorites are Yao Ming (he's easy to spot and stands out) and Moochie (she digs the big fro and likes to say the name). I take her to as many games as I can and for christmas I bought her a Steve Francis Playmaker 6 pack of tickets (cheap seats but we move down at the half). Last night when the game came on she jumped up in my lap and said, "Yeah Rockets are on TV". She faded in the 4th quarter and was asleep in my lap when the finished off the spurs.
I think Its going to be more of getting a little bit at a time thing. I am going to get a place first and foremost, and then move a little bit at a time. Its going to be a long drawn out process, and Im really not looking forward to it.
Tell me about it! When I moved to DC from Houston a year-and-a-half ago I had $500 and an '89 Acura Integra that I filled with as much junk as I could fit in. For a month, I slept on the floor, surfed the Internet on my stomach, propped my small tv up on a cardboard box, sat on the floor with my back against the wall as a chair. Not the best of times.
Great Decision DrewD. Welcome to Houston. I'm sure you'll love it once you get situated. Another one for the good guys. Oh and I agree that the Montrose area is a good place to buy records.
