I had a Great Pyr puppy that died of parvo in a similar way. She had her shots but got sick anyway (dog park, probably). I took her to the vet who gave her fluids, etc. She started to look better, so he sent her home. They said if she vomited blood and had blood in her stool, to take her to the hospital. Then she started vomiting in the night and my wife and I took her in the car and raced for the hospital. She died on the way (or maybe before we got her in the car, I'm not sure). It sucked. Anyway, I'm sorry. I know it hurts.
Thats exactly the way Tiny died also. We raced to the hospital also and he was unresponsive. Gave him so more fluids and glucose at the hospital. Became a little responsive....then got home and he woudn't move, he started having seizures, even after we put syrup on his lips for his low sugar levels. He died shortly after that.
We tried HP. I have this guilty trip for trying to save him and see if he would come out of it. Watching him have those seizures and suffer, I blame myself for not just putting him out. I hated to watch that. Still have this knot in my chest about that...
I'm sorry that happened toy you. I would be devastated. Seriously for people that don't know, do not take your puppy around other dogs and especially not to the dog park until he is around 5 months. Wayy too easy for them to get sick.
I had a 13 week old Boston Terrier that passed away 2 summers ago. He got a tapeworm and was given drontal and needed to pee every 10 mins within a couple of hours of taking the medicine. We thought it was a side effect of the meds, but it we found out he was having kidney failure when it was too late. His other issues where vomiting and jaundice. He passed away and Bayer Corp paid for his necropsy to cover their ass and sent him to A&M vet school. Their conclusions were that he had 2 strands of lepto, but that they damage didn't fit lepto and was more like poisoning. But b/c he had 2 issues, the results were inconclusive. I came on here after he passed away to get some advice if there were any vets on board or anyone else who had any experiences with drontal or lepto. Turns out many of us have had issues with our pets and we can all empathize with what you are going through. Some good advice that I was given from this board which would make you feel better is to fill your pockets with a bunch of treats and go into a pound and feed those little guys. My wife and I never did go to the pound, but the image that I came up with made me feel better. I hope any of this helps.
Thanks to you and everybody else who has responded to my thread. I will do that rocketteen; very good idea. I greatly appreciate everything. I honestly feel this big hole in my heart. I guess what makes me hurt more is the fact that he has a brother who has never been seperated from Tiny. His name is Pepper. He is really missing him. They were inseperatable. I see him everyday and try to keep happy for him because I know he feeds off of what we feel. My wife, brother, and I have been trying to give him extra love because it seems like Pepper is having depression. Its just really hard. Thanks to everyone....
As with everyone else, so sorry. My labrador retriever got parvo and was lucky to survive it. We will both pray for both of you.
