Oh, I get it. So, the negative feedback is coming from the GARM. Huh. You do realize the GARM is full of people who would most likely b**** about the parade route after winning a championship. Not exactly helping your credibility there, dude.

It wasnt our offense's fault  . The game was over when the raptors SCORED 40 POINTS IN THE 2ND QUARTER. And we havent had a damn defense the last damn couple games

    Funny side note:

As I got out of class at around 7, I was driving home and thought to myself, "I hope the Rockets aren't ****ing up against the Raptors or else we are going to have those f''n annoying threads about firing JVG, or playing V-Span, or signing this player or trading for this player, etc etc etc that have no constructive criticism or anything and go from the highest of highs during a win to dooms day!"

AND sure enough, I get home, check the score on Yahoo, then open Clutchfans and see this as the first thread! But the good thing is I have become immune to these threads and if nothing else, the pure stupidity of these thoughtless threads just make me laugh.

Now LET'S GO GET GUNDY's HEAD ON A PLATE B/C WE HAVE LOST TWO GAMES IN A ROW AND NOW HAVE 5 LOSSES IN THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY WITHOUT ONE OF OUR SUPERSTARs AND ARE ONLY THE 5th SEED IN ONE HELL OF A CONFERENCE!

Anyone know why JVG's defensive gameplan involved doubling Calderon at the top of circle only to be continually burned by ball movement and them getting wide open looks?

Last thing a hot shooting team needs is uncontested shots.

Aside from that, we couldn't control the boards at all.

Guys, everyone knows that I am not the BIGGEST JVG fan, and I would sure like to see him make some adjustments faster, and develop some rookies that will help us in the long run...but....

Tonight.....we got smoked because our starters came out like it was a cake walk, they didn't play hard and they got Blitzed.

Toronto has GREAT PGs....and not just one...but TWO of em...wow.....and they were eating Rafer's lunch either scoring or passing.....

We need perimeter foot speed....and the team just doesn't have it in the rotation right now.

Now there are some guys that could help on the bench, but it may be too late in the season to get them some meaningful time and allow them to get their confidence going to help this season.

I will say that Bagnani looked AMAZING and he sucked earlier this year but Sam Mitchell stuck with him and it is paying off...in a big way.....

I've had enough too...of people like you b****ing and crying after every loss. JVG is a damn good coach. The fact that you bring up that he needs a big man to save his life is ridiculous. THAT'S HOW HE COACHES. HE BELIEVES IN A BIG MAN GAME. It's proven that with a dominant big man, your chances of winning a championship increases tremendously. What the hell do you expect JVG to do without Yao? This whole team was built around him and you should be damned glad we've done so good so far without him.

    Stop whining damnit.

Somewhat agree, but Detroit and San Antonio have proven that you can win it all without a dominant center.

Notice how I said dominant big man, not center. Tim Duncan is a dominant big man (some can argue that he's a center but whatever). Detroit, I admit, is an exception because of their team-orientated mindset. They had no true superstar on their team but instead had above average starters including four all-stars.

Yeah, I see what you are saying...but I think the rule changes have effected the way team's play.....I think the days of the big man's game are numbered, unless they adapt their rules again.

Stern wants a game like the Euros play...uptempo with good shooting and passing, and I have to admit that is a great style of play.

let me rephrase what i said. Of course a team is more capable of winning a championship with a dominant big man. What i meant is that a dominant big man makes JVG look like a great coach, it saves his offense, as u guys can see our offense is so predictable without yao, but maybe its on the players for lack of athleticism

No, it is not all on the athleticism, though that is a big part. IMHO, it is on the types of players that are on the court.

Right now it is REALLY easy to play the Rockets...just double Tmac early and let the rest of the team try to beat you.

Team's have started doubling Tmac earlier and earlier in the games now, and it is up to JVG to find a way for other players to step up.

We DESPERATLY need another player who can create off the dribble and attack the basket when team's double Tmac.

    Rafer and Luther aren't it.

Well he isn't a very offensive-minded coach, but a great defensive coach, you have to agree with that at least. Defense wins the big ones, look at my most HATED team, the Mavs, they never came close to winning the championship until Avery stressed more defense. Just give JVG an opportunity to see what he can do with a healthy Yao and T-Mac together with this current cast of role players and you'll see that we can do some heavy damage come playoff time.

I still like the Rockets game. For some reason, its not boring to me and I truly enjoying watching Yao destroy opposing centers with fadeaways and turn-around jumpers. Phoenix basketball annoys me b/c there is no defense invovled.

Yes, but Phoenix isn't going to win anything....

I don't buy the defense wins championships bit...I think balance wins championships.

You don't have to be the best offense or defense but if you can play well on both ends of the floor you can win it all.

    IMHO, of course.

Well then I guess that's good for us. We have terrific defense and the best offensive duo in the game.

Beat me to it.... I think defense is more important to the Rockets because our offense is just going to come down to three options:

    1. Teams double up one of our superstars in which case our other superstar tears them up and our roleplayers chip in the extra points to make teams pay for doubling.

    2. Teams don't double at all in which case our superstars tear them up.

    3. Teams double both of our superstars in which case it just comes down to either our roleplayers can hit their jumpers and I believe once we have T-Mac and Yao, the looks for Alston, Head, Battier, and Howard will open up more.

So as long as we follow JVG's defensive strategies, our offense will come. If you build it, they will come and we have built our offense around Yao and T-Mac and once they are on the court together, it will come!

I agree that the rule changes impacted the big man's game. But I think the general derth of talented big men with a few exceptions is why the guards are dominating. But if David Robinson, Hakeem Olajuwon , Patrick Ewing , Even Shaquille O'Neal were all in their prime they would still be dominant. The rule changes also allow the big man to lurk inside except within the defensive 3 second zone and if dream was around at his prime he would definitely pile up more block shots. Greg Oden will be coming into the league , it will be interesting how much impact he will have.
