The true value would be with In-A-Godda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly.

We aren't talking about stealing something that someone has. The company doesnt have the money 'stolen' from them.
But, if too much pirating occurs, then it may 'affect' the company.

Yes, you are talking about "stealing something someone has."

Labels pay for recording and promotion "up-front." That is a real, honest to goodness out-of-pocket expense.

What makes things worse is the artist doesn't get paid until all that money is recouped.

OK, I am stealing something out of someones pocket, but that still does not mean that I am going to stop downloading music. Until they get banned, you might as well use a program like Kazaa to download music.

99 Luftballoons is already on every 80's compilation (along with Mexican Radio).

Id purchase the Doris Day, Calamity Jane songs.

Can't you see that your stance regarding pirating music and software are hugely contradictory?

I know I sound like a broken record but...

iTunes is doing great. In the first 16 days that it was open, it sold over 2 million songs. Plus it adds thousands of songs on a regular basis, including older cataloged songs and prereleases.

The problem with Kazaa is reliability, quality and I would argue selection. Not only is interrupted downloads annoying, but you aren't guaranteed that the song you are downloading is labeled correctly. Plus half the time, if you find the song it isn't encoded at a high bit rate.

Now selection is difficult to say. On Kazaa you can find lots of concert bootlegs, small independent bands etc. But you usually don't find full albums. Furthermore, unless it is a recent popular band, you usually don't have a good selection. The majority of P2P users are kids and students. They usually have a different taste than older adults.

Also, on any given night, the search results are always different. Coupled with the fact that as more people use iTunes and pay, more people will be less willing to share on Kazaa. Selection will drop.

There are always going to be people that will illegally download music. They weren't going to pay for the music anyways. But for the rest of the people, if you provide them with a legal, convenient reliable way of downloading high quality music that isn't too expensive, they will use it. And iTunes is showing this to be true.

hehe, yeah, so I'd use iTunes to get those songs I'm too embarrassed to buy at the store, especially the whole album. lol!

What about "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cindi Lauper. :D

no, but the one i'm thinking of is a big hit around the world from the late '90s. man, i'm totally drawing a blank on it, though.

A friend of mine purchased the infamous Traci Lords CD "1000 Fires" through iTunes. Massively overproduced, but it is decent pop/dance music.

    ah, now I remember.

    Cornershop's, "Brimful of Asha"

I remembered by finally recalling the famous line, "<b>Everyone needs a bosom for a pillow.</b>" Most profound lyrical line of all time, imo.

That was the first song I bought with iTunes. I also got "Sleep on the Left Side" from that album. I like the music store, the thirty second previews are awesome.

You should get the whole album (do the kids still call them albums?). I think you'll be surprised and like the whole thing.

As far as 1 song to download, I'd have to say Rush's 2112 Overture. It's about a 1/2 hour long.
