I think it originated as a desperate move to generate a rushing attack, and it worked against the Jets because they were not prepared for it.

Now teams have seen it on tape and once you are prepared for it, it's not that hard to stop.

Not to mention that as Andre Ware pointed out on the radio broadcast, Shorts has yet to hand the ball off in the Wildcat. He keeps it every time.

Yup. Weird thing about last night was that Grimes and Polk were gashing the Pats pretty good for the most part. Obviously we needed to play catch up in the 2nd half but thought we should have just handed it off and let our RBs fight for the 3rd and shorts.

This thread is moot at this point. Hoyer is done with a concussion, Bobby is happy, and TJ Yates will start Sunday.

It was clear he was concussed. They should not have let him back in game. He blew it and the medical staff/O'Brien blew it.

If we had a quarterback who didn't underthrow balls or overthrow Griffin we would have had the momentum swings. 10-6 Pats and we had a chance to complete a simple pass down the middle and he threw it behind him. Would have at least stayed that score.

Dissapointing game from that standpoint and the Newton decided to let Hoyer get hammered.

All in all... Let's put Yates in and see what happens. I think we all have more faith in that man.

The 3rd and 3 pass at the end of the first half.
complete that and you take off 3 points from the board and maybe get 3
Have some momentum for the half

Yea that first play back when he got sacked/fumbled, he either looked like he gave up or he was clearly concussed.

Honestly can't believe those two hits gave him a concussion since they weren't hard hits at all. He was just being pulled down.

Yup. It's tough losing that game, because our D did pretty well vs Brady despite a banged up Watt. I felt we were in it. Could of been 10-9 at half or a lead.

Absolutely, and I'll be even happier when the Texans win the division now due to the forced upgrade at QB.

Yates isn't as good as Hoyer, but neither are as bad as Mallett.

The most entertaining games this year were with Yates behind the center. The playcalling was innovative and unpredictable, go figure. If it takes Yates at qb to get Godsey (I'm not so sure O'B didn't have something to do with the plays) to step up his game then so be it. We are a better team with the third stringer at the helm.

It's not even just that, Yates is a legitimate threat to throw the deep ball, it makes defenses play the Texans entirely differently. The Patriots were giving up the deep ball, but we didn't have a QB competent enough to take advantage of that. There was more than one case where we could have had a TD with a better thrown pass, one that the receiver didn't have to stop and wait on. Add to that the other passes where they were behind guys or out of their reach ahead of them and you had a disaster. If you are expecting Ryan Griffin to make Nuk Hopkins type catches, you are going to be disappointed.

Preachin to the choir, Hoyer is always a day late and a dollar short and even worse when the pressure rises.

Good times. The inevitable fan chatter when a team doesn't have a good QB. QB plays bad lets' put in the backup Mallett to see what he can do. He sucks the original starter goes back in. QB starts playing bad again lets give the street free agent a shot because I'm sure he'll be better... I'm sure most can figure out what will happen next. I like Yates, but he's not as good as Hoyer.

Yates for a 3-4 game stretch can be better more clutch than hoyer can ever be. So we need yates to beat the colts and hope hoyer is back against the titans. we will see more bootlegs. stupid that we went away from it to begin with in an attempt to outsmart billicheat.

I honestly wonder sometimes what this forum would be like if this team had a QB. A real QB that we all had faith in. I have no idea what we would talk about.
