It's time to start thinking about moving Jalen to the BENCH

I believe that he believes it's a confidence issue, so it will also create a confidence issue yes. That's just him doing that to himself though.

The real problem is his shot mechanics are too reckless and his shot selection is timid/bad. At the 3pt line he just needs to improve as a catch and shooter with good up and down form and only when he's open. Inside the 3pt line, the only thing he needs to be doing is transition, lobs and attack the basket when the rim is left unprotected. These are problems he's going to have to fix regardless of his confidence. They're choices just as much as skills.

If Udoka thinks he can fix these things patiently, that's good news. There's some serious work to be done here.

Lack of concentration, lack of effort, and missed defensive assignments. Pretty much all the same reasons why Ime benched Alp, Bari, and Jalen himself earlier in the season.

There was a Nuggets game at home 2 months ago where Jalen finished with 1/13 FG and played near the whole 4th quarter. So, Ime doesn't bench guys for a few missed shots, and I completely agree with Ime's benching decisions so far, whether it's Alp, Bari, or Jalen.

That makes sense. End of the day it really doesn't matter how hard he's trying if the results aren't there and obviously they aren't nor have we seen anything to indicate they're coming. I'd honestly be more concerned if he's actually putting in a lot of work and these are the results. As is that makes him barely a guy off the bench. At least if there's something going on off the court there's hope. Not much but it's there a little

Rockets Coach Ime Udoka Gives Reasoning for Jalen Green's Diminished Minutes

"I don't know if he's getting the best looks," Udoka said. "The second guessing, for sure you can see that. You want to be aggressive initially, but you have to be able to do both. I think at times he's struggling to read what [defenses] are doing, and he's passing up some looks and forcing some others."

"He's got to continue to improve in that area, read the game and take what it gives you," Udoka said. "Sometimes if you have an open shot the first look you get a lot of times is the best one. It’s something to grow into and get better at, but teams are putting their better defenders on him and paying attention to him."

Agree. It might really do Jalen and the team good if he is sent to a different system where he can fit. See Halliburton and Shai. His game simply does not fit the current system installed by Ime for one reason or another. I thought his showing in 20 games or more should already tell the Rockets where all this is going. It's sad to see since Jalen has immense talent and athleticism.

No idea - my guess is that there are a lot of things going on. He spent over two years being able to do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted because the GM would excuse it. He also had a head coach that was terrible- so Green could blow defensive assignments, etc. as long as he scored. That isn’t the case anymore.

The player (Green) deserves some blame, but so does the general manager.

Green needs to matchup against opposing bench unites and just run them into the rim. The problem is that he’s not smart enough to know what his strengths are and how to use them.

He's just missing shots and it's creating a downward spiral. Starting to seem a bit "Fultz-like"

You are right. Whatever happened to his very reliable and deadly mid-range shot? I have not seen him take that shot in ages. Maybe he should learn from Bari, who started taking and making mid-range shots with regularity, and it has helped expand his game exponentially when he was contributing to that change. Bari's confidence is back, and he is making a major impact in games. Jalen might want to try working to get mid-range shots and find ways to move to open spots when Alp is swarmed so that he can receive the inevitable outlet passes. Maybe a little adjustment might help his game and restore his confidence. Ime, your call.

    Stone job on the line?

    kpj: fail
Jalen: on the verge of being a failed risk
Amen: will he ever learn to shoot or stay healthy?
Cam: hasn’t gotten a chance yet
    Tari: solid
    Sengun: solid

Honestly it's still early in the season. We are were Ime set the goal for this team: make the playoffs.

That means Jalen will have a second and a third chance. The best way of improving the bball skills is by playing it.

If he is not better by all star break, he will be benched/traded. Don't worry

    This is a great observation!

The org has gone for athletes over skill too often, while it is where superstars can be found, you have to be good at basketball first, out of your list only KPJ, and Cam were good at bball first.

He needs to figure out how to generate a core group of the same shots semi frequently. Between his inconsistent mechanics and the degree of difficulty. He creates on some of his penetration they’re just will never be any efficiency.

Look at Jabari…. He pretty much takes the same shots, often. Hence, he ends up efficient.

Jalen just needs to go, he isn't good enough and it is going to take years for him to learn how to play, and he isn't that sharp.....time to move on.

No question. If it was up to me Stone would be a ghost. He's worked with the easiest situation possible. We could easily replace him with a better gm. Houston isn't a bad destination anymore.

I almost 100% with you but eliminate KPJ. He wasn't good at anything outside of being a spot up shooter. Otherwise, a complete **** up. Cam has potential. He's not a scumbag like KPJ was. Unfair to lump them together

We need to get value. We have expirings and picks plus Jalen. Should have went all in on Ja. Donovan isn't the answer

The question is, and those close should be able to see it, is has he given up on the team? Because if he has, benching him will only make things worse.

Watching him play just makes me think that the team used to the team revolving around him and he loved it. Losing had little effect. He liked being the focal point, he liked playing with KPJ, he liked playing for smiling Silas. He has none of that and he doesn’t like his role. We’re not changing our play because of him and he’s not comfortable playing off the ball looking for position and openings form him or others. Hero ball is what he knows and loves. Bench him and he just goes further in the hole. That’s why I see a trade coming before the deadline

We need to trade him now not later, he just does not fit in a team style offense only in a HERO BALL type offense….he was awesome the last two years playing HERO BALL with KPJ
