It's time to start thinking about moving Jalen before the deadline

No, they don't "Have to" make a decision this offseason on Jalen. He's under contract for next year and will be a RFA the following offseason. That's when the ultimate decision must be made.

Unless of course they move him before the end of next season.

I believe he will be an UFA next year, if they don't do the final year extension then he is a RFA THIS offseason....isn't that correct?

Y’all are both right. Yes in a few years we can let the market set his price and if it’s to high just let him join his new team. (No return on investment) We can match his offer keep moving forward with Green. (Why we can get a better fitting role player). If we can get a return on him, why not do it quickly. His new team would be able to use his bird rights if we act soon. (He could blossom into the next Kobe…).
As for the Rockets, Sengun is our future maybe with Smith, or Thompson or maybe neither. Hopefully with Tari and Cam having roles. FVV & Brooks will help get us there. All is not lost but Green is not part of our long term.

If he's as bad as you think he is, why do you need to worry about him being poached by teams offering an overpaying contract to him?

    No.

They've already exercised the 4th year option.

After that 4th year he becomes RFA.

Had they not exercised the 4th year option he would have been UFA after this season.

I don't think he is bad, I think he has a longer way to go than we have in our budget.

What are you even talking about? Lemme guess Keegan Murray is the way to go right?

Jalen is a good player but he does not fit what Houston is trying to do. We are trying to run our offense through Sengun…team basketball. However, to get Jalen involved we needs the ball in his hands and play more ISO BALL. If we play HERO BALL like last year, Jalen will go off while his teammates have their hands in their pockets…..however we need Jalen to be successful this year

No, you guys honestly it is like talking asset management to a bunch of people who don't understand that part of the equation.

We can extend him this offseason, if we choose NOT to, we can activate his last year as a TEAM option, but, that means he is an UNRESTRICTED FA in the next year.

We can also choose NOT to excercise this next year and he is a RFA - this is what Phoenix did with Ayton I believe trying to get a lowball extension - doesn't usually make the player happy.

He fits exactly what we want to do. FVV as the seasoned PG, Sengun as point-forward, Smith at 3-and-D, Brooks as the wing enforcer. What are we missing? A slashing 2 guard.

Not for one good half of basketball in the last 6 games.

Funny. I didn't realize six games make a career.

No, half a game doesn't. Averaging 22 points last season with a terrible coach, however, buys a guy some wiggle room to figure out a new system. Hey, at least it should with any reasonable fan.
