It is sad that after this epic run, "Rocket" fans act like this. Re-sign them all. Get healthy, win a ring. We have the right pieces...
They were 10-5 and giving up 90 ppg on 43%, u want to stretch that record and fg% out with a hobbled tracy?
What the **** does this Hunter vs. Consumer tripe even mean? You = Hunter, Morey = Consumer? Morey don't take risks, but instead stick to safe guys like... Ron Artest? You > Morey at being a GM?
Hopefully a franchise that is cash strapped and is looking to rebuild...maybe Sacremento for KMart? DD
so, there are actually people out there who believes Ron is nothing but a Shane Battier? When's your last time you see Shane shoot off the dribble? When do you see Shane drive to the goal unless the lane is wide open? When do you see Shane drive to the teeth of defense, stop, either to create a pass or connects with the net? Do you see Kobe play defense on Shane? How's Ron's stats before Yao went down? Actually, Shane can do it, but can Shane do it with some consistency?
Maybe I'm missing something, but to trade Artest we would have to do a sign and trade, which would mean Artest would probably sign for 3 or 4 years at least. Why would Sacramento make that deal?
on the contrary. without Battier Houston has no reliable means to slow Kobe or beat LA. PERIOD advanced sabremetrics employed by the Rockets front office proves this FACTUALLY. all the rest of you who want to pad your egos with a SF who puts up gaudy numbers have no rational basis for this looking at performance (2nd round) or statistical fact NOR empirical evidence of seeing Kobe forced into being a volume shooter. you want a 3 who puts up more PPG just to have a 3 that puts up more PPG if you want to have a reasonable discussion about trade value for Battier you dont look at OFFENSEIVE production at the 3. you talk about a defensive stopper who you can put solo on Kobe in the $5-7 million range. if you have one for us to consider I'm all ears you're right that people are being totally illogical on this thread. check yourself to see which side you're on
Please think before posting. Pray tell, how would acquiring Artest help them accomplish that? They would trade for expirings, not sign and trade for new talent. Artest is likely to stay with us if we are the highest bidder. I highly doubt that Artest will be signed and traded (unless a team has a large trade exception/unguaranteed contract). We would have to take back a roughly equal salary in a sign and trade -- basically a team would have to be willing to pay Ron more than us AND be willing to trade us a player of a similar salary that we think is a better player (and they don't). The few exceptions might be around a lower talent on a 1 year deal, but teams rarely get a talent swap in a sign and trade. If Ron goes, it's most likely he signs somewhere outright. My guess is the biggest potential sticking point will be contract length -- if someone's willing to give him 5 or 6 years, good luck to them.
Yeah you are right I was thinking about Tmac for Kmart.....but was using Sacremento as an example of a cash strapped franchise. DD
Lol, check this. http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5076608 Tmac for Nocioni, Udrih and Kmart. It works perfectly, lol, i don´t see them doing thism eventhoe we absorv Beno Horrible contract, we end up with a fine 6th man in Noc and a starting 2 guard in Kmart. We don´t need to resign Artest if we do this. Plus we can choose to trade Lowry or Brooks along with a resigned artest if we want to and aquire a big.
All I' am going to say is that it's A LOT easier to find a guy that can score (like Wafer) for those who are looking to find a scoring wing, than to find a guy like Battier. I think we can get that guy with other assets without giving Shane up.
With Battier's play and publicity this offseason, there are a ton of fans who would love to have "that guy" on their team. If a mediocre cap strapped team wants to give up a more talented-and more expensive- player for basically Battier plus expirings(we have Barry and Cook to throw in), then I'm all for it. If we could get someone, like say, Richard Jefferson, then cool. But only for an upgrade. I wont cry if Battier is still on the team next offseason though. He is a valuable piece, but we have no idea how other gms value him. No reason to trade him just to. I can almost guarantee you that there still isn't any other gms lining up to trade for Hayes.
If Sacramento is looking to "rebuild" why would they give up Martin? He's their only young piece worth keeping?
Why would a team give up their rising star Kmart, their newly signed PG and and great 6th man for a broken down player. Unless they want to sell the franchise they would never do it. Who would support that team after that?
I think they are hemoragging cash, and realize by that time they get any legitimate pieces Martin will be long gone. DD
I was just impressed that the trade is doable, i also said i don´t think Sacramento would or should do this. They are rebuilding and Nocioni and Martin seems to be key guys in their rebuilding process.
Trading Battier will result in us only becoming a semi decent defensive team. Not one of the premier defensive teams like we are now. We will lose to Kobe and the Lakers every time we play them, which is pretty often since we are in the same western conference.
