I argue he has earned the attribute a tad above mediocre but that is it.

We needed a change of coaches so while he was okay, far from good, his firing was still the best and right thing to do. Knowing Leslie, he would've stuck with him even if we had disappointed with a 6-8th and 1st round exit.

Why would you say that about Leslie sticking with him? Leslie was the one who fired McHale in the first place.

After a couple of losses in a row

Basically, McHale is the tallest midget.

That don't make him Yao Ming

McHale would have been the best guy for the mix of players that we have. The authority was taken away from the team, and we have ended up where we are. Those who complain about McHale would always complain no matter who the coach is. I bet they complained when Rudy, JVG, and Adelman were at the helm. Every coach has deficiencies, but for every fault we find, we must not neglect the positives.

Anyway, we have to look forward now.

Well it certainly makes it look like it was not McHale's fault. 11 games, no Dwight, no DMo ( for what that is worth) for four games and on limited duty, Harden out of shape, trying to work in Lawson and really having almost too many players to make an easy rotation. A team built around three point shooting with no above average shooters except for perhaps Harden.

We will probably know if the above which is obvious is true, since this team will be very different next year and almost for sure have a different coach.

Mchale would have this team as a 6th seed at best if he was still coaching... still not good enough. We need a new coach bottom line. One that has nothing to do with Mcfail.

    This. A million times this.

Following that playoffs loss, McHale was on a one year team option that should have been declined. The Rockets could have parted ways with McHale and hired Kerr, for example. Instead, they picked up the option, and then extended him for three years by December. The team lucked into a WCF appearance, and then fired him 11 games into this season when it was clear his ability as a motivator, which all the potential coaching ability he had, was non existent.

How is it not his fault when he was the head coach and had ZERO plans for how to integrate Lawson, or how to keep these guys together or care about defense?

He set this entire thing in motion and we got McHale light when he was fired.

    This is 100% a management **** up!

So much fallacy. Look at the early team records for when Bron Bron changes cities. Saying someone has no plan is just arrogant internet babble. The fact is that integrating a guy is sometimes hard to do depending on fit. 11 games isn't enough time to evaluate that, but the keyboard warriors have spoken...

Must be nice to ignore the 'healthy Harden' getting beat up by Wes Matthews or the 'healthy Parsons' getting owned by Batum or the fact we had to start TJ on a beast mode Aldrich to start the series. You're right though, it was all coaching and not the players or an all time crazy finish. This forum has gone to pot with its assumptions and opinions presented as facts.

Portland was a better team whose 2 best players were better in that series than the Rockets' 2 best players, plus they had way more depth. The Rockets had no functional PF on the roster. Try again.

Yep. To think McHale was a bad coach you'd have to think the Rockets were a championship team last year but were held back by McHale. That pretty much sums up the idiocy of the McHale hate.
