Oh, and for my prediction I will say 45-37. We will make the playoffs but get knocked out in the second round.

I think we can upset the Lakers. It seems our team is built to beat them. We saw what Griffin is like against the Lakers. He can hit from all over the place, and loves being on TV. Cato provides a big body and at least the solid effort to tryto stop Shaq. With Ming backing him up, he can take mroe gambles. When Ming is in, he can counter Shaq with his offense from all over the place. It's perfect, since we dont' have to go inside. Then there's our guards. Who's Kobe going to take? Francis or Mobley? If he takes one, the other will explode. Even if they manage to take out 2 of them, that would free up Rice/Nachbar SO MUCH.

I really think we can take them. If we get 7th seed, and they get 2nd, we can take them out.

I studied each posters team by team W/L picks and was able to come up with a conclusion:
I'm not real sure anyone looked at them.

It would take me at least 3 beers to get through all of the picks.

To be fair here is my pick: 82-0

Hey guys, its not too early for this thread. This is the "schedule's just been released" prediction thread. Later on, we'll do the "season's about to start" prediction thread. Goes this way every year. :)

47-35. That may be too optimistic, though. Our future frontcourt players need more time to develop, and our veterans have a lot of question marks.

I think we will win 45 games make the playoffs as the 6th or 7th seed and lose in the first or second round. I will consider yao's rookie season a sucess if he averages 12 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks a game. Francis needs to step up as a leader with well controled play for us to do amazing things this year and we definetley need to stay healthy too.

45 wins is about right, in my opinion.

One injury away from 38 wins.

One healthy season away from 48 wins.

The Rockets, I think, will be a lottery team again, with around 35 to 40 wins. But this is the last season for it. The West will line up as follows:

    1. LA Lakers (will not screw around next year during regular season)
    2. Dallas Mavericks (will win Midwest)
    3. Sacramento Kings (still too fast for most teams)
    4. San Antonio Spurs (Duncan)
    5. Minnesota Timberwolves (KG is going to go off next year)
    6. Portland (still just too much talent to NOT make the playoffs)
    7. LA Clippers (Finally over the hump)
    8. Utah (Still have Stockton and Malone... 'nuff said)

The 5 - 10 teams in the West next year will be bunched up very close in terms of W/L records, and the Rockets and Sonics will JUST BARELY miss the playoffs. The Rockets will have some injuries to key players for short periods (i.e. Francis migraines and Mo T is probably going to take about 1/2 the season to get into gear), but the big problem will still be youth and inexperience -- Eddie Griffin and Ming will be the standout young players, and Nachbar will have a decent season, but the team will still be very inconsistent and will have trouble with the better teams in the West.

I'm looking at 2003 - 2004 for us to get back into the mix, at around the 6th or 7th seed.

I'm thinking they go .500 this season and come up a little short of the playoffs.

If one of the "playoff" teams collapses (Jazz, Timberwolves, Sonics, Suns) we might win 45 to 48 games and squeeze into the playoffs.

Man all you all r being to negative about the rocks, just look at our team, we got a badass team!!!! (Langhi and Collier got to go) but anyways we have a badass team that wasnt even healthy last season. If we stay healthy we r onna be on the top trust me, not no 7 or 8 seed like all you all r predictin, am thinking like 2 or 3 seed. Just watch The Reason (Francis) is gonna go off watch leading the league in scoring, i think he needs to be a lot more selfish he passes the ball too much, if he shoots more he'll score more and everything just goes well for the rockets. As we have seen in a few games last year were steve actually goes out to score, (Them utah games with like 30 at halftime) Everything just goes the rockets way when steve hoggs a more. Well gotta bell laters am predictin like a 56 to 62 win season if Steve goes off and we stay healthy. This upcoming season, more than any other, is too hard to predict. I can see it going either way. I pray they make the playoffs, though, so we don't have to witness another "I told you so" thread by Axeman. :D
