If you can't see the cop while you're speeding, chances are that you aren't driving safe enough. I hate the whole notion of the ticket quota, but just think of a ticket as an accident you could've had. I don't know if this works in Texas, but if you ask the officer if they've had their radar calibrated today, you could get off. They could lie, so work some respect into it.
Just an update. Yesterday I saw two cop cars, today there were freaking five of them on a stretch of 10 miles. So the end-of-month orgasm of speed law enforcement by cops goes on ... To their credit, they did catch a jerk who drove like an bully in the fast lane. The guy was indeed a road hazard and should be pulled over any day of a month.
Funny. I live down Louetta and noticed a cop parked in the U-ey yesterday. I didn't give it much thought, because I don't speed down that street.
Amazingly, I've never been pulled over for speeding. I can't say that I've never gone more than 5 mph over the limit, but it happens very rarely, when I'm not paying enough attention because I'm really tired or something. I have had a similar experience where it seemed like the cop was being a little too strict when he gave me a warning for "rolling through a stop sign." He said I didn't come to a complete stop, but all I could say was "I thought I did", which was the truth. I had to really restrain myself though when he asked me "didn't you see me over there?" What I really wanted to say was, "Yes, of course I saw you. I said to myself, I wonder how little of a stop I can get away with and not be busted by that cop there. It would be worth being late to work, and possibly getting a ticket, just to conduct such a great experiment!" But of course all I really said was "No, sir."
